Intrepid Travel commented on this reviewThank you Carla, so pleased to hear you had a wonderful time and your tour leader was fantastic.Trip date: June 2024 - Pam· December 4th, 2023Accomodation in Takayama was so disappointing. Too far out from town, the futons were not traditional, just very thin foam. Intrepid, your standards have slipped. The guide Hiro was good but the fact that she had 2 trainee guides with the tour, distracted her. Generally not satisfied with our experience. P.R.Show more

Intrepid Travel commented on this reviewHi Victoria, Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We love to hear when one of our travelers have had a great trip. Japan is certainly an incredible destination and we are delighted to read that you would recommend this tour! We would love... Show moreTrip date: May 2023 - JMJan· November 16th, 2019Some more time in Osaka and visiting Koyasan at a less busier time would be good. The visit to the tea farm was great! Special Thanks to our guide, Morry the magician. He led us to some places that weren't included in the included activities.Show moreTrip date: October 2019
- TVTatiana· September 30th, 2019Great sample of all the classic Japanese foods! My favourite experiences on this trip were the fresh sushi from the Tokyo fish markets, the make-your-own takoyaki in Osaka, and the all-you-can-eat shabu shabu in Kyoto! Would definitively recommend trying some umeshu 'on the rocks' as nice sweet addition to a meal :) It was a shame we only got one day in Osaka compared to the 3 in Kyoto, which i assume is because of the timing on the railway passes, it made it a bit of a annoyance to travel to the airport in Osaka, so definitively would suggest staying at least an extra day there before flying out to see a bit more of the city. And if travelling solo, remember google maps got you covered for your train+fair info! PS. Early September temperature was around 30+C for the duration of the trip.Show moreTrip date: September 2019

Asked on September 5th, 2025Is it possible to skip or substitute somewhere else for the Koyasan stay on the Japan Real Food Adventure? Husband is not able to sleep on the floor.
Intrepid TravelOperator•Written September 2025Unfortunately, since our group tours are sold as a package we are not able to substitute any portion of it. If you wanted to stay elsewhere it would be at your own cost and we would not be able to deduct the Koyasan stay from the cost.
