Customer Reviews
- Blaine· June 15th, 2025This was an excellent trip. We had great encounters, up close, with the wild life and now have our own video documentaries. Momba was an excellent leader who knew the history, geography, culture and politics of the countries which led to very interesting discussions and a better understanding of Africa. We were pleased that Charlie and Sam, the cook and driver were also cheerfully willing to discuss Africa with us. We highly recommend this tour to others.Show more
- Bingzhi· August 30th, 2024It was excellent tour to bring us the wild animal world. Good tourist guide, driver and chef!Show more
- Christopher· June 21st, 2025Fabulous - No safari can guarantee that you will see everything you want to but very happy with what I did see. Photos shown were taken with either a low spec phone or a pocket camera – those with better phones or better spec cameras have far superior pictures Group leader ‘Lucky Steve’ was excellent as were the drivers. During a trip briefing a few years ago, a guide said ‘if you want home, stay at home’….many of the roads were bumpy. Services such as hot showers are not guaranteed. Wi-Fi was available albeit sometimes only in reception and restaurant areas and could be patchy. Food was a bit samey. Some variance to the trip notes. Accommodation was generally acceptable and one lodge was more like glamping. Caution regards money – many places / accommodations didn’t accept credit cards for additional expenses. Also, the Tanzanian government are trying to stop payments in US dollars (doesn’t apply inside Serengeti National Park) although this was being flouted. The optional elephant caves trip – whilst the trip notes provided a price in $, payment needed to be in cash (Tanzanian Schilling). In Zanzibar, credit cards were accepted and many prices in $. Zanzibar - optional walking tour in Stone Town was good and very informative; the guide (‘Ali’), clearly-spoken and funny (when he put on a cockney accent). The optional ‘spices’ tour was also good. Accommodation much higher standard.Show more

What our customers ask about this tour

Asked on June 12th, 2023Will there be a local charge as well? some kind of extra sum requested on the first day to cover the trip?
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written June 2023
Gratuities aren't compulsory on your trip, but they can make a big difference to locals employed in the tourism industry. Over the years we have found that many of our travellers find the need for tipping local guides and operators to be both tiresome and embarrassing, especially if they don't have the correct small change. To overcome this, your leader might raise the idea of a group tipping kitty. At your group meeting, your tour leader may discuss the idea of running this kitty, whereby everybody contributes an equal amount and then your tour leader pays the tips as you go. The leader will keep a running record of all monies spent (except restaurant tips). The record can be checked at any time and any money remaining at the end of the tour returned to group members. This kitty does not include tips for your leader and crew.

Asked on April 30th, 2023Can I pay a single supplement to have a tent of my own (I can snore and don't want to disturb a travelling partner!)
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written May 2023
A single supplement is available if you'd prefer not to share a room on this trip. The single supplement excludes Day 25 (Camping) and Days 32,33,34 (Chalets) where you will be in shared accommodation and is subject to availability.

Asked on April 28th, 2023Would it be possible to receive some input about the average age of the tour as well if its mostly solo travelers who booked the trip or mostly couples.
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written May 2023
Currently it looks like we have 3 people booked, one solo traveler and one pair that appear to be traveling together and ages range from 20s-60s. As this is a combination tour, the demographics of the trip will likely change throughout as some people may book onto shorter segments of the trip. While we do understand that the group make-up can be important, like-aged does not necessarily mean like-minded. With the limited information we are able to provide on demographics, it might be difficult to base your decision on this information alone. We would always encourage focus more on making sure that this itinerary and the dates are right for you.

Asked on November 20th, 2022Am I too late to book with no visas and vaccines?
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written November 2022
This trip is On Request, which means we would require full payment and passport details to request it with our operations team. It takes 2-4 business days for them to confirm. We suggest that you do not make any non-refundable arrangements until the trip is confirmed.
