    • Adventure SouthOperatorWritten November 2023

Yes Ebike is available, please select this option when you make the booking. On some of the longer cycles you can ask the guides to just suggest a shorter option for you both and they will be able to accommodate that easily and the support van is available throughout the trip so you can take rests whenever you feel the need.

    Asked on July 14th, 2023

What is the activity level? We are both 64 and in good shape overall, no health issues, we are active but we dont want to get in over ourselves! Is it flat biking? E bikes? is the hike easy mod, advanced? What kind of hotels are we in? I only saw 1 review which leaves me wondering why their isn't more.

    • Adventure SouthOperatorWritten July 2023

This is a multi-activity trip, based around Queenstown and Fiordland in the south of the South Island. It includes some biking but also kayaking on Lake Wakatipu and Milford Sound and hiking sections of 2 of New Zealand's Great Walks. The Milford and Fiordland Hike, Bike and Kayak is graded moderate. You will need a reasonable level of fitness and we suggest 4 hours of cycling and hiking per week for three months leading up to your trip. You will need to be able to walk for 3-4 hours at a time on undulating paths. Most of the cycle trail is hard packed gravel, we recommend training on compacted gravel trails, and completing a multi-day ride prior to your trip to get used to being in the saddle for long periods of time. If you take an e-bike then the cycling will be easier and the walks aren't that significant. The tour is fully supported and if at any stage you feel like having a rest from cycling you will be able to ride in the support vehicle.

e-Bike Rental is not included in the tour, it's an extra NZD$500. This is a great trip, there are only a few biking sections, so it would also be possible on a regular mountain bike which is $150.

    • Adventure SouthOperatorWritten February 2023

There is the option for riders to use either standard hybrid front suspension mountain bikes or electric bikes and the guides are very experienced at managing a trip with riders on both. There is an option for riders to use either standard hybrid front suspension mountain bikes or electric bikes. e-Bike Rental is not included in the tour and is an extra NZD$500 per person to hire.

Can a 55 year old female with an average fitness condition join this tour?

    Age Range
    • Adventure SouthOperatorWritten June 2016

Most of our clients are mature and well researched travelers, generally between their 50’s and 70’s. As long as clients prepare for our departures in advance, as our trips are active holidays, I think you will enjoy this tour!

Suggested preparation: 45 minutes of aerobic type exercise, three to four times a week. Hill walking, road cycling or kayaking or is also recommended.
