- MaryAnn· March 7th, 2025Adventures South is an amazing organization, cannot speak highly enough. Absolutely every detail covered impeccably, the best guides you could imagine, well thought out routes, adapted to conditions, great accommodation, meals. Best ever!Show more

- Valerie· November 24th, 2024Right from the very start with a very detailed itinerary, with our very professional guides Nicki and Sarah, who made sure our cycling journey was enjoyable, fun, safe and a memorable experience. It was our first organised bike tour, and unsure what to expect. We were picked up in Queenstown, shuttled to Clyde, outfitted then shuttled to Cromwell to begin the adventure. The weather couldn't have been better, with the exception of a strong headwind to Middlemarch on day 4. All the accommodation was very comfortable and the food choices were great. Our bags were transported to the next accommodation without any issues. Our whole Otago Rail Trail ride went without a hitch, we had a terrific group of people on the ride, and Nicky and Sarah made sure we had everything we needed. Organisation, friendliness of staff, professionalism, safety and equipment. They have the complete setup from start to finish. We will be booking again with them.Show more

Asked on January 25th, 2023Is the ride for road bikes? Can I bring my own bike?
- Adventure SouthOperator•Written January 2023
Yes, this is a 'roadie trip' and you are welcome to bring your own bike. As long as it is fit for purpose and serviced prior to the trip. On the road cycling tours our Merida Silex 300 road bikes have wider 32mm tyres and disc brakes which are safer and better suited to NZ road conditions seal/chip.

Asked on November 9th, 2022Would like to know The best time of The year to Ride in NZ and more info thanks
- Adventure SouthOperator•Written November 2022
New Zealand has a largely temperate climate meaning mild temperatures, moderately high rainfall, and many hours of sunshine throughout the country. March to May are New Zealand's autumn months. While temperatures are a little cooler than summer, the weather is usually very settled during these months and it is possible to swim in some places until April. While New Zealand's native flora is evergreen, there are many introduced deciduous trees and colourful changing leaves make autumn a scenic delight, especially in regions such as Central Otago and Hawke's Bay, which are known for their autumn splendour.

Asked on September 15th, 2022Have you planned this trip on roads that are less traveled and therefore safer? Are the mileages pretty do-able for fit 70 year olds-we exercise daily and are in pretty good shape but no longer young?
- Adventure SouthOperator•Written September 2022
Our Southern Coast Cycle Trip was developed to utilise the great views and quieter roads of Otago and Southland. The idea is to get the great roadie experience but be away from high traffic areas. If you are riding regularly then you'll love the mix of rolling terrain through farmland, forest, and coastal settlements. It is not mountainous, but there are still some hills. Riding days vary between 40 km and 150km. Should you wish to do less on any particular day, guides will ensure guests ride the best sections. We also offer e-bikes as an option for guests.
