Although Rod, the driver was very nice I felt that Intrepid had not organised the tour as well as previous Intrepid tours I have done. It was very overpriced for what was provided. The van had a broken seat belt attachment with a sharp edge which ruined a down jacket I had bought for the trip. I have asked Intrepid about it but received no reply.

We had to quit the tour the morning of the second day because the guide was completely incompetent. He knew nothing of the area and didn’t follow itinerary. It was a disaster and disappointing to say the least. I will never see the places in New Zealand I paid to see. I had to find new lodging, transportation etc. I am waiting for a full refund from TourRadar with whom I booked the tour. Intrepid tours has contacted TourRadar with whom I booked. TourRadar does not respond. Very poor service.

Is it possible to make a 3:30pm international flight from Queenstown to Sydney on the last day of the tour? I need to be at the airport by 2pm.

    • Intrepid TravelOperatorWritten November 2024

The group will return to Queenstown at approximately 2pm on the last day. Due to the ferry schedule from Stewart Island, it will be difficult to reach the airport in time for a 3:30pm flight. We recommend booking a flight later in the day to ensure you have enough time to reach the airport.

Can you tell me if there is a single supplement to pay if I am travelling on my own? How much is it on the Queenstown Southern Loop tour?

    • Intrepid TravelOperatorWritten June 2022

Our trips are sold on a twin share basis, so if you're happy to share with another solo traveller of the same gender there's no need to pay the single supplement. If you would like your own room on this trip, the single supplement on this trip can be requested from an additional cost of $680. The single supplement excludes Day 3 (Cabin) where you will be in shared accommodation and is subject to availability.

This trip can be enjoyed by just about anyone with a reasonable level of fitness. Below are the details of the included walks in the itinerary: Day 2: Afterwards get a different perspective of the sound, surrounded by native bush, as you take on the lookout track with your leader. This is a 20 minute walk and is 400m return. Day 3: Visit Nugget Point and its lighthouse, situated on a rocky outcrop jutting out into the South Pacific Ocean, and hike through dense forest to pretty McLean Falls. Nugget Point is a easy 10-20 minute return walk. McLean Falls is an easy 2.1 km return via same track taking about 40 minutes

I am interested in this tour, as a solo traveler departing April 25th 2022. I just have a question: I am interested in the April 25th departure, however, I can see the tour is "On Request". Please could you tell me if this tour will be going ahead, or when it will be confirmed it is going ahead?

    Tour Details
    • Intrepid TravelOperatorWritten April 2022

This departure is currently On Request because it departs in 21 days, and our local operators may have already confirmed numbers with suppliers in-destination, including dinner reservations, internal tickets, etc. In order to request a spot on this trip, the tour must be paid for in full so that we may request with our local team, just to make sure that we can accommodate for another traveller. If you pay in full, and we are unable to add you to the trip, you will get a 100% refund.

Hi Some questions about The Queenstown Loop Intrepid trip. We're travelling by car to Queenstown and just wondering what is the name of the hotel where we meet? We want to book close to that hotel. We may be interested in pre/post accomodation. ie name and price? Also do you know where we could store our car while we do the trip. About what time do we finish our trip on Saturday

This trip begins at the Heartland Hotel Queenstown. We offer the accommodation for $325 a night. I would recommend contacting the starting hotel and asking for their recommendations, whether they have a car park there or if there is one near by. The trip ends at 2pm on the last day.

Hi Thanks for your reply. I emailed the Heartland hotel and they only charged $100 a night. I also asked about parking and they said they have limited parking. So we have a problem of where to park for 5 nights while we're on the trip. Surely other travellers from NZ may have a similar problem and Queenstown needs visitors. I'm looking at parking at the airport or some long term parking ie Wilsons. Any suggestions
