Itinerary
- Day 1
Accra to Cape Coast - Elmina
Start early and drive along the coastal highway from Accra to Cape Coast, taking in the scenery as you head out. Once there, walk through Cape Coast Castle's whitewashed walls and the solemn dungeons to learn about the transatlantic slave trade, then spend time at the West African Historical Museum located inside the castle grounds. Grab lunch at an oceanside restaurant with views of the water, and afterward head to Elmina Castle, which was the first European structure built in Sub-Saharan Africa back in 1482. You'll get to watch the busy harbour with its colorful fishing boats before making the drive back to Accra in the early evening.
