Saint Gilles les Bains to Cilaos
Start early for a drive to Piton Maïdo viewpoint, which sits at 2,000 m (6,560 ft) and looks out over the Cirque de Mafate basin. On the way back, you'll stop at several viewpoints to see the Cilaos basin before getting back to your hotel for the evening.

Cilaos to Entre Deux
Take a short walk to La Roche Merveilleuse for valley views, then head to the remote mountain village of Ilet à Cordes to see the lentil fields. Later you'll return to Cilaos and check out the thermal springs, local shops, and traditional embroidery work. There's an optional wine tasting of local Cilaos wine before driving to Entre Deux for the night.

Entre Deux to Saint Pierre to Plaine des Cafres
After breakfast, you'll take a short tour of Saint Pierre. Then you'll drive along the Réunion Garden Route through lava landscapes and volcanic coastline, stopping at Cap Mechant to see the impressive waves. From there, visit the Jardin des Parfums et des Epices botanical garden and continue through more lava terrain before reaching Plaine des Cafres for the night.

Plaine des Cafres to Hell-Bourg
Head out early to explore Piton de la Fournaise, the still-active volcano. From Le Nez de Boeuf mountain peak, you'll see spectacular views of the Plaine des Sables plateau and Pas de Bellecombe mountain pass. There's an optional one-hour walk to the small crater Formica Léo if you're interested. In the afternoon, drive east toward Hell-Bourg through the Cirque de Salazie basin with its waterfalls and banana plantations.

Hell-Bourg to Saint Denis
After breakfast, explore the village of Hell-Bourg with its Creole houses and flower gardens, which is recognized as one of France's most beautiful villages and functions as an open-air museum of Creole architecture. Then you'll transfer back to Saint Denis airport.
