We had not realised that “Turkish Ring” is not a single circuit but four smaller ones amalgamated, with different guides and buses. Some guides had good English but were difficult to understand because of poor pronunciation. After Konya the timing and coordination became more variable. Owing to delays we had no opportunity to visit Kusadasi of which we saw only a sunset panorama. Both advertised tours of old Antalya began late so took place at night, fortunately we had explored it by daylight the day before the tour began. The hotels were generally good although some (Ring Downtown and Mugla) had, we thought, been classified too highly. The price of the taxis to and from Antalya airport was exorbitant. According to the programme there were no optional tours but in fact there were some, notably the glorious ballon flight in Cappadocia, which could be bought en route.
