- Karen· October 12th, 2024Great tour to give you a taste of what Turkey has to offer. Very well organised, always on time and great communication throughout the trip via what’s app. Tour guides were amazing, Hakkan is Cappadocia and. Igun in Kusadasi, very informative, gave us lots of history of the area and TurkeyShow moreCity of Sultans commented on this reviewThank you very much for choosing our services. - DHDaniel· October 7th, 2024Our first female guide in Ephesus was excellent, relating the history and modern information about Turkey, the city, and the House of the Virgin Mary without overwhelming us. She went swiftly from site to site with relatable explanations in fluent English. My only critique is that the walks felt rushed, as she could have left just a few minutes to take photos at each stop. On the accommodation side, the Efe Boutique Hotel had the best view imaginable for this shoreline, including a balcony overlooking the cruise port. I've never had such a gorgeous view on a group tour hotel! The breakfast buffet was tasty, and the hotel staff were all friendly. Our second young guide in Pamukkale and Hierapolis was simply outstanding. He also shared the country's historical and modern context, finding the perfect balance between information and rest. He also allowed just the right amount of time for photos. The terraces and thermal pools were both as beautiful as expected. In Cappadocia, we had a new male guide for two days, and once more, we experienced his adept balance of knowledgeable stories and sufficient photo time. Most stops were scenic overlooks with no shortage of breathtaking views. The underground city was also fascinating. Also, we opted for the extra hot-air balloon rides and were very satisfied. The otherworldly scenery from the air was gorgeous, and our female pilot was competent and pleasant. We also had perfect weather and a gentle landing. The Zula Cave Hotel was near a shopping and restaurant area that offered plenty of low-cost souvenirs. I recommend getting your gifts here rather than in Istanbul, as Cappadocia prices were far better for the same quality. Remember your 15 kg checked luggage and 8 kg carry-on limits. Throughout the tour, all drivers took us calmly and safely from site to site. There were only a handful of the usual sales stops over the five days, but they were brief and low-pressure. These stops are part of the tour game, but they were surprisingly way more engaging than other tours I've been on. There is a similar four-day version of this tour, but the five-day price was not much more, and we enjoyed having that rest day in the middle. We could explore more freely and pace ourselves without significant extra cost. This particular tour is also in the reverse direction of most of the others for these cities, and it made for a more personalized experience. This also gave us good luck, as had we done Cappadocia first, we would have lost our balloon ride to high wind cancelation on both days. The only area of opportunity I'd mention regarded one of our pickups from the hotel to a domestic flight. When it was clear it was late, I reached out, also with assistance from the hotel, and it took far too long to get a response. We eventually got picked up and made it to the boarding gate precisely at boarding time with zero minutes to spare. We were also lucky the flight left a bit late. The tour company played it down and seemed to gamble with reassurances that we'd arrive in time. However, the resultant stress was unnecessary with the zero margin for error. Although I highly recommend this tour, I'd check in thirty minutes early for your time-sensitive pickups. Overall, City of Sultans delivered an excellent tour for the price, and I wholeheartedly recommend this trip and the company.Show moreCity of Sultans commented on this reviewThank you very much for choosing our services. - RHRoslyn· May 24th, 2024We were very happy with the itinerary for the tour. It was good to cover long distances with plane flights. The accommodations were excellent and the breakfasts and lunch were very good. The tour guides were informative, helpful and entertaining and the coach drivers were proficient and safe. While the communication with the tour organiser was good, it took a while to realise that we were on a digital tour rather than one with a tour leader but the organiser was only a WhatsApp message away. For two days we toured Cappadocia with another group of three but on the third day we realised they had a different itinerary and we toured with another group of people. An issue arose when we arrived in Izmir because we didn't know where to meet our driver and also our transport to the airport for our final flight had to be rearranged to catch our flight on time. As experienced travellers, this was a good tour but for a solo traveller or a less experienced traveller it could have presented some difficulties.Show moreCity of Sultans commented on this reviewThank you very much for choosing our services.
