    Barcelona

    You'll arrive in Barcelona and have time to settle into your accommodation. If your flight gets in early, there's plenty to see before the 6 pm welcome meeting. Walk through some galleries and cafes in the older neighborhoods, or take the funicular up Montjuic or Tibidabo if you want views over the harbor. At 6 pm you'll meet your group for a welcome gathering with vermouth, then grab tapas with everyone afterward.

    Barcelona to Girona

    Your leader takes you through Barcelona's streets this morning, stopping to try something local. After that it's your call—head to Gaudi's La Sagrada Familia or Park Guell if architecture interests you, or just wander the city. In the afternoon you'll head to the train station and travel to Girona, arriving as evening starts. Your leader will walk you through the medieval streets, then you have time to explore on your own.

    Girona

    Walk along the medieval walls that ring Girona—they were originally built by Romans, then rebuilt during the Middle Ages. From the top you get views down to the river, cathedral, and the whole city spread out. The afternoon is yours to do what you want. You could visit the Arabic Baths, try gelato at Rocambolesc, or take a Game of Thrones walking tour if that appeals to you. Find a local spot for dinner.

    Girona to Nimes to Avignon

    After breakfast you'll head out of Girona and travel to Nimes in southern France. Your leader shows you around town on a walk, then the afternoon opens up. The Amphitheatre of Nimes from around AD 100 is worth seeing. Later you'll take the train to Avignon, check in, and explore the walled city that was once home to French popes.

    Avignon

    Start with an orientation walk through the local markets where produce is grown nearby. There's plenty to see—the Palais des Papes is impressive, and the Pont St-Benezet is iconic. If the weather cooperates, hire a bike to ride through the valley or check out local bakeries. Later you'll meet up with your group for a French-inspired dinner.

You'll take home your own jar. The rest of your day is open—walk through the Palace of the Dukes, visit the Church of Notre-Dame, or check out the Musee des Beaux-Arts.

  • Payment information
    • For any tour departing before January 1st, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after January 1st, 2026, a minimum payment of $400 is required to confirm your booking with Intrepid Travel. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
    • Some departure dates and prices may vary and Intrepid Travel will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
    • The following cards are accepted for "Intrepid Travel" tours: Visa, Maestro, Mastercard, American Express or PayPal. TourRadar does NOT charge you an extra fee for using any of these payment methods.
