Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Airport Transfer to Monetier le Bain

    Your private transfer picks you up from your arrival airport (Milan, Turin, Geneva, Nice, or Lyon) and drives you directly to Monetier le Bain. Once you arrive at your hotel, the team helps you sort out equipment rentals so you're all set for skiing. This evening you'll check out the old town bars and then sit down to a French dinner with locally-sourced ingredients.

  2. Day 2

    Serre Chevalier Ski Domain

    You meet your mountain guide and instructor team to kick things off. They take you up into Serre Chevalier Ski domain where they'll watch how you ski and figure out what works best for your abilities over the next 8 days. You'll try out the mountain's best slopes and terrain, stopping for a mountain-top BBQ lunch. Later that evening, there's an optional Alpine Spa experience at Les Grand Bain, followed by a traditional French 3-course dinner.

  3. Day 3

    Col du Galibier Snowshoeing and Briançon

    A private transfer takes you to Col du Lauterat for snowshoeing. You'll walk through snow-covered wilderness and climb to Col du Galibier, the famous Tour de France mountain pass, while your guide talks about local wildlife and history. At Refuge du Galibier you stop for a warm lunch with locally-sourced food and valley views. After coming back down, you transfer to Briançon, a UNESCO World Heritage walled city and one of Europe's highest. You tour the historic city and cathedral before dinner at a traditional French restaurant inside the old town walls.

    La Grave Ski Domaine

    Your private transfer (about 1 hour) takes you to La Grave ski domain for a full day with an expert ski guide. The terrain here includes some of the most extreme lift-accessed skiing around, and your guide adjusts the day based on your abilities and conditions. By evening you're back in Monetier for your final French dinner, a hearty 3-course meal at your hotel.

  5. Day 5

    Montgenevre to Via Lattea and La Tana Della Volpe

    You leave Monetier le Bain and head to the French ski resort of Montgenevre. From there you ski across the border into Italy with your mountain guide, going through the Via Lattea ski field and five Italian villages to reach La Tana Della Volpe (The Fox's Lair), a converted cable car station on a mountain ridge overlooking Sestriere. Your bags are already there waiting. You have Italian aperitifs while watching the sunset, then enjoy a five-course Italian meal in the dining room with its 15-foot glazed front overlooking the moonlit mountains.

    Italian Alps: Sauze d'Oulx, Sestriere, Sansicario, Cesana to Sagna Longa

    The morning is relaxed so you can enjoy the quiet of your mountain-top location. When you're ready, you head out to ski Italian areas including Sauze d'Oulx, Sestriere, Sansicario, and Cesana, stopping at uniquely Italian mountain restaurants and bars along the way. You ski back close to the French border and arrive at your private Italian chalet in Sagna Longa, a remote snow-covered enclave accessible only by mountain transport in winter. Your bags are waiting and the catering team serves a hearty Italian meal. After the lifts close, you relax on the chalet's large terrace under the stars in this isolated spot.

    Today you explore at your own pace. Go back to your favorite runs and ski areas from the previous days and return to your favorite mountain restaurants. If you'd like, optional ski guiding can be arranged. In the evening, snowmobiles collect you from the chalet and take you through the snow-covered mountains to an isolated mountain restaurant for a locally-sourced Italian meal, then back home through the darkness on the snowmobiles.

You explore high altitude meadows surrounded by Haute Alp peaks and trek to a remote refuge for authentic Italian lunch. By evening you're back at the chalet for a hearty Italian meal.

Optional add-on adventures are available at extra cost, including wilderness ski touring, parapente (paragliding) where you ski off the mountain and float on thermal winds, and heli-ski experiences with an Italian operator exploring fresh powder routes.
