Kathmandu to Machha Khola
You'll start with a scenic drive from Kathmandu through rural Nepalese countryside, heading toward Machha Khola where the trek officially begins. The route takes you through river valleys and small communities, and by afternoon you'll arrive at this riverside village that serves as your trekking base.

Machha Khola to Jagat
After getting settled, the trek kicks off with a walk through gorges alongside the Budhi Gandaki River. You'll cross several suspension bridges on narrow forested trails, and the day offers consistent river views and traditional landscape. By evening you reach Jagat village where you'll stay the night.

Jagat to Philim
This day takes you through villages like Salleri and Philim as the landscape becomes noticeably more remote. Tibetan influences start showing up in the architecture and culture here. Waterfalls line the trail and ridge views open up as you push deeper into the region.

Philim to Higher Altitude
You'll trek through sections of bamboo forest and negotiate steep rocky paths as elevation gains accelerate. The scenery shifts toward alpine characteristics, and the cultural richness intensifies with each kilometer. This is where the mountains really start dominating your views.

Entry to Nubri Region
The Nubri region appears now, and Tibetan Buddhist culture becomes the dominant feature. You'll visit monasteries in Lho village and get your first real look at Mount Manaslu's impressive presence. The eighth highest mountain in the world commands the landscape from here.

Acclimatization Day in Sama Gaon
This is your acclimatization day at altitude, which means flexibility in how you spend your time. You can either hike up to Manaslu Base Camp or visit Pungyen Gompa monastery, each offering different perspectives and excellent views. Either choice gives you cultural and scenic rewards.

Sama Gaon to Samdo

Samdo to Larkya Phedi
This shorter day covers challenging terrain as you ascend to Larkya Phedi, also called Dharamsala, which serves as base camp for the pass crossing. The altitude makes this feel harder than the distance suggests. You'll rest early tonight since tomorrow requires an early start and serious effort.

Crossing Larkya La Pass to Bimthang
The most demanding day arrives as you cross Larkya La Pass at 5,160m, one of the trek's toughest sections. After reaching the top, you descend steeply into the peaceful Bimthang valley where panoramic views reward your effort. This is the climactic moment of the entire trek.

Bimthang to Dharapani

Dharapani to Kathmandu
The return journey takes you by vehicle from Dharapani back to Kathmandu via Besisahar, passing through valleys, forests, and small villages along the way. You'll spend the drive thinking about the trek, the mountains, and everything the Manaslu region showed you over these past two weeks.
