Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Kathmandu to Syabrubesi

Your journey starts with a drive north from Kathmandu toward Rasuwa, taking around 7 to 8 hours on winding roads. You'll pass alongside the Trishuli River with terraced hillsides on either side, and on clear days you'll catch views of snowy peaks like Ganesh Himal in the distance. Small towns dot the route, and by late afternoon you arrive in Syabrubesi, a vibrant mountain village that serves as your entry point to the Langtang region.

  2. Day 2

    Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel

The trek begins with crossings over suspension bridges and walks through dense forests where oak, pine, and rhododendron trees create a cool canopy. Your path climbs steadily next to the Langtang River, and you might spot monkeys or hear local birds in the undergrowth. After a few hours of steady walking, you reach Lama Hotel by afternoon, a peaceful spot tucked in a forested valley where you'll spend the night.

  3. Day 3

    Lama Hotel to Langtang Valley

From here the trek follows the river upstream through gorges and along high ridges as vegetation slowly thins out. Langtang Lirung's snowy slopes come into view as you climb higher. You'll pass through Ghodatabela and several small herding settlements before entering the wide Langtang Valley, where traditional stone houses and prayer structures dot the landscape and you'll stop for the night.

  4. Day 4

    Langtang Valley to Kyanjin Gompa

This is a shorter trekking day with the path climbing past mani walls and prayer wheels through scattered pastures. As elevation increases, the valley opens up and snow-covered peaks surround you on all sides. By midday you reach Kyanjin Gompa, a historic monastery and the cultural core of this region where you'll base yourself for the next couple of days.

Today you have the chance to rest and explore, with an optional hike to Tserko Ri if you're up for it. From that summit, panoramic views spread across Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, and mountain ranges that extend toward the Tibetan border. After descending from the viewpoint, spend the remaining hours relaxing around the village and soaking in the atmosphere of Kyanjin Gompa.

  6. Day 6

    Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel

You start heading back down the valley, retracing your steps from the past few days. The descent is generally easier going, which gives you more time to notice details and scenery you might have rushed past earlier. You'll pass through the same villages and forests, and after several hours of trekking, you're back at Lama Hotel for another night.

    Meals
    Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    Included Activities

    • Trek descent through Langtang Valley
  7. Day 7

    Lama Hotel to Syabrubesi

The trek continues downhill through bamboo groves and river valleys where the air gets progressively warmer and the forest grows denser with each step. After 5 to 6 hours of walking, you reach Syabrubesi where the trekking portion officially finishes, and there's time to reflect on what you've seen and experienced over the past week.

    Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    Included Activities

    • Trek through bamboo groves and river valleys
  8. Day 8

    Syabrubesi to Kathmandu

You leave Syabrubesi behind and drive back toward Kathmandu along the scenic highway, getting one final look at mountain vistas, rivers, and rural communities along the route. Depending on road conditions and stops, you'll arrive back in Kathmandu by afternoon or evening, wrapping up your Langtang Valley trek and marking the end of your mountain adventure.

When I traveled to Nepal I was a bit disoriented and lost till I met Krishna, a lovely guide. He gave me lots of options and ideas what to do and where to go. I was able to choose them the way I wanted and how they fitted into my schedule. To be honest I guess I´d still be lost in the streets if I hadn´t met the team of Ammonite Adventures. They definitely made my trip to one of the most impressive trips I ever had. I can´t do something else than recommend them! They are cool guys who care about your wishes and ideas. I can´t wait to visit Ammonite Adventures next year again and explore some new places in my favorite country so far. Thank you for the amazing experiences and see you soon!
