Itinerary
- Day 1
Dubrovnik
You'll arrive in Dubrovnik and get transferred to your hotel. If your flight comes in early, there's time to walk through the medieval Old Town before the evening program starts. The 15th century Rector's Palace and baroque churches are worth checking out if you have a few hours, and you might spot some Game of Thrones filming locations too. At 6 pm there's a welcome meeting, then dinner with the group at a local restaurant featuring traditional Croatian food.

Dubrovnik to Kotor
You're heading from Dubrovnik to Kotor in Montenegro, crossing the Croatia-Montenegro border. Stop in Perast for a short walk and grab coffee. The boat trip through Bay of Kotor takes you to the Lady of the Rocks island, created in 1452 around a rock where an image of the Madonna was found. After exploring Kotor's Old Town with its stone buildings and narrow streets, you'll check into your hotel. The evening is yours to wander around however you like.

- Day 3
Cetinje
After breakfast, head to Cetinje in the mountains outside Kotor. Lovcen National Park has nice trails and landscapes to explore. If you're willing to tackle the stairs, the Njegos Mausoleum at the summit of Jezerski Vrh (1647 m/5403 ft) gives you views across the mountains and toward Albania on clear days. The Cetinje Monastery holds Orthodox Christian relics including the right hand of St. John the Baptist. Try local prosciutto and cheese in Njegusi village. Back in Kotor by late afternoon, you can climb the city walls for views of the city and bay.

- Day 4
Kotor to Berat
Early departure to cross into Albania, which involves a long drive with stops along the way. You'll visit a winery in Fishte for Albanian wine tasting and a farm-to-table lunch with local produce, wild fish and organic meat. By lunch you're in Berat and eating with the group. After that, your late afternoon and evening are free to explore the city on your own terms.

- Day 5
Gjirokaster
A local guide walks you around Berat, sharing the city's background and key sites. You'll climb up to the still-inhabited fortress for town views, then have free time to wander parks or sit at a cafe. Later the group heads to Gjirokaster village for a cooking class in someone's garden. You'll help prepare traditional Albanian dishes and then sit down to eat what you've made while talking with your hosts.

Landmarks Berat Fortress - Day 6
Drino Valley
Start with a leisurely cafe visit before a guided tour of Gjirokaster, called 'Stone City' because of its unique stone architecture and cobblestone streets. Your local guide explains this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Next you'll visit the Drino Valley monasteries, Orthodox buildings from the 16th and 17th centuries that were once central to Albania's culture. The rest of your day is open, so you can try local sweets in the old town, explore the Cold War tunnel, or just relax in a park.

Gjirokaster to Albanian Riviera
Drive from Gjirokaster to Butrint National Park, surrounded by wetlands and the Vivari channel. The park is known for its well-kept ancient Greek and Roman ruins set in a natural landscape. You'll explore the Greek theatre, Roman baptistery and Venetian castle while taking in the surroundings. Then head to your hotel on the Albanian Riviera where rolling hills and clear blue water give you a nice place to settle in after the history-filled afternoon.

- Day 8
Albanian Riviera
Today is yours to spend as you like on the Albanian Riviera. After breakfast you can stay at your hotel or head out to explore the surrounding area. Multiple beaches are available if you want to read a book or swim in the clear water. For those interested in history, Himare Castle sits on a hill with coast views, or you can take a day tour to Pirate Cave. Local restaurants serve fresh seafood, and your group leader can point you toward the best spots.

Albanian Riviera to Tirana
You're leaving the Riviera and heading to Tirana, Albania's capital. On the way, stop at the ancient Greek site of Apollonia where your leader explores the well-preserved ruins including a theatre, temples and a triumphal arch. In Tirana, a guided tour covers the city's blend of cultures and customs with mosques, citadels, Ottoman architecture and medieval Balkan style. The compact city works well for walking, with architectural influences from Italy and Turkey. Wrap up with traditional Albanian food at a local restaurant for a farewell dinner with your group.
