Itinerary
- Day 1
San Salvador
You'll land at the airport where your driver guide meets you for the transfer into San Salvador. During the drive to your hotel, your guide fills you in on how the city's changed recently, talking through the security improvements and new development you'll see around town.

- Day 2
San Salvador to Jiquilisco Bay
Head southeast toward the Pacific coast to reach Jiquilisco Bay, where Central America's largest mangrove forest spreads out across the water. After settling into your hotel, you'll visit the Monkey Reserve, then get on a boat that takes you through the mangrove canals out to a private island for some beach time. From there you'll make your way to Puerto Barillas for the night.

Jiquilisco Bay to Punta Mango
You're heading to the black sand beaches for a day in the water and sun. Check in at your hotel in Punta Mango, then spend time at Las Flores Beach where the water stays calm and shallow for swimming, though moderate waves are there if you want to surf. Take a 20 minute walk east to see El Cuco, a small fishing and farming village, and then head back to Punta Mango.

Punta Mango to Gulf of Fonseca
The day takes you to the Gulf of Fonseca up in the Trifinio area where three countries meet: El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua. You'll spend time in La Union, positioned below Conchagua Volcano, then board a boat that goes through mangrove forests to explore several islands. Conchaguita is a volcanic island with its own village, and you'll also pass by Martin Perez island and Zacatillo before returning to your hotel in Punta Mango.

Punta Mango to Airport
This is your departure day. You'll get a ride to the international airport, which sits about 3 hours from your hotel. If your flight leaves early in the morning, an overnight stay closer to the airport can be set up for Day 4 instead. For midday or evening flights, the timing works out so you'll have plenty of hours to get there without rushing.
