Departure
Your southern Africa adventure starts today. You're heading into a region known for its varied landscapes, different cultures, plenty of wildlife, and rich history that spans from busy cities to remote safari areas.

Johannesburg
You'll arrive in Johannesburg, South Africa's largest city, which grew from its gold-mining past into a modern center with diverse communities, excellent museums, and lots to see. Spend the day settling in and checking out the city on your own before heading to the safari tomorrow.

Johannesburg to Victoria Falls
A flight takes you to Victoria Falls, one of the world's natural wonders. After checking into your tent camp lodge that combines authentic African style with comfort, you'll head out this afternoon when rainbows appear most often to see the falls' power from up close.

Victoria Falls
Start by visiting an elephant sanctuary where you'll interact with and learn about these animals in their setting. Next, the Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust shows you their conservation work. Lunch happens at a local family's home in a nearby township, then you'll head to the Zambezi River for dinner with river views.

Victoria Falls to Chobe
This morning you'll visit a traditional homestead and meet the village chief to learn about local life. From there you cross into Botswana and reach Chobe National Park. An afternoon safari cruise on the Chobe River lets you watch elephants, hippos, and crocodiles in their natural setting.

Chobe National Park
Early morning brings a game drive through Chobe National Park where you'll see different habitats and wildlife. After lunch, you can pick between an afternoon game drive to keep searching for animals or a river safari to see things from the water. Later there's dinner with local specialties back at the lodge.

Chobe to Pilanesberg
You'll head to Victoria Falls Airport for the flight back to Johannesburg. From there a transfer takes you to Pilanesberg National Park, a game reserve inside an ancient crater. This landscape puts wild Africa right in front of you, with lions and other big animals waiting to be found.

Pilanesberg National Park
Before sunrise you're out in a 4x4 searching for the Big 5 across Pilanesberg's open areas. Later in the day an afternoon drive might show you big cats getting ready for the hunt. The evening brings a bush dinner under the stars back at your lodge.

Pilanesberg National Park
This full day in Pilanesberg involves morning and afternoon 4x4 drives where you'll continue looking for the Big 5 and other animals like giraffes and cheetahs around you.

Landmarks/POIs Pilanesberg National Park - Day 10
Pilanesberg to Western Cape Winelands
One last 4x4 drive across Pilanesberg's marshlands and rocky areas as the sun comes up. Then it's back to Johannesburg for a flight to Cape Town, the entrance to South Africa's wine region. You'll drive to Somerset West in the Western Cape with views toward False Bay, staying two nights near vineyards and old Cape Dutch buildings.

Western Cape Winelands
You'll spend the day exploring the winelands with tastings at multiple wineries. First stop is Stellenbosch Valley for your initial tasting where you can try Pinotage, a South African favorite made from Pinot Noir and Cinsaut. After traveling to the pretty village of Franschhoek for lunch and browsing around, you'll visit another winery in the afternoon, then have dinner with locally grown foods.

Cape Town
Welcome to Cape Town, a city full of culture and energy. You'll walk through the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront packed with history, shops, and food. A cable car takes you up Table Mountain for views across Cape Town, Lions Head, and historic Robben Island. On your way back you pass through the Malay Quarter with its scenic views.

Cape Peninsula
The coastal path leads you to Cape Point at Africa's southwestern tip where green plants cover rocky areas above bright blue water. From the top of Cape Point you'll take an easy walk down past native flowers and different views. Boulders Beach brings an encounter with endangered African penguins. That evening you'll have dinner as a guest in a Cape Town family's home where you'll share stories about life in the city.

Departure from Cape Town
