Machame Gate
Your Mount Kilimanjaro trek starts at Machame Gate this morning. You'll begin on the Machame Route with your guide and support team, taking those first steps up the mountain. The initial section moves through forested terrain at a steady pace, and you'll work on getting acclimated to the altitude right from the start.

Shira Camp

Barranco Camp
Next, the trek continues to Barranco Camp as you work through different types of terrain and keep climbing. You'll notice the landscape shifting around you, and the views of surrounding peaks become more impressive from here. The camp sits at significant altitude, so this is a good day to move slowly and let your body continue adjusting.

Karanga Camp
From here you'll navigate toward Karanga Camp, dealing with some steeper sections along the way. The climbing gets more demanding as you gain more elevation, and you'll focus on acclimatization while pushing higher. This section requires a steadier pace, but your guide will make sure everyone's doing okay.

Barafu Camp
You'll reach Barafu Camp, your final staging point before the summit push. This high-altitude camp is where you'll prepare for the big day ahead. Grab an early dinner and rest up, since you'll be starting well before dawn tomorrow for the final ascent.

Uhuru Peak
Summit day arrives and you'll depart from Barafu Camp early in the morning, trekking through the night for the challenging push to Uhuru Peak. Reaching the roof of Africa at 5,895 meters/19,341 feet is the payoff for all those days of climbing. The final sections test your endurance, but standing at the top makes it worth every step.

- Day 7
Moshi
After your summit success, you'll head down the mountain back toward Moshi for your final descent. The trek back takes you through lower elevations where the air feels different and your body starts recovering. Once you reach town, you can rest and properly celebrate finishing the Kilimanjaro trek.
