Our guide was very knowledgeable about ancient Egyptian history making this tour very good for anyone who wants to learn more about this subject. The accommodation was excellent save for the two nights on the train which were quite a trial because of the age of the carriages! However the trains were clean. From the second I arrived in Cairo, I felt so well looked after and safe. The On The Go tour rep was at the airport to meet me after my very early morning flight from London, and helped with the visa. The first hotel where we stayed in Cairo also felt safe, it was comfortable and clean. In the evening, I met the other traveller and our guide, Dino - who clearly and quickly told us all what we needed to know. Dino was an excellent guide, and I feel like I have learnt more with him about Egypt than all the history classes in high school! He also made everybody in the group feel comfortable, and helped creating a very positive, friendly vibe. The train ride from Cairo to Aswan (and return) were comfortable enough, linen were fresh and clean, and food was alright. Dino had suggested getting some snacks at the train station, and that was a good advice! The Nile cruise was such an amazing experience, I am glad I have treated myself to this upgrade, food was diving and it felt very luxurious and food was divine. My guide, Alam was so kind, knowledgeable and helpful and the itinerary was so well put together. I feel like I saw so much in a short space of time, but still had the opportunity to relax by the pool on a few occasions too. The hotels were great and the food was incredible, especially on the felucca where everything was home-cooked by the crew onboard. Egypt itself is an incredible country. The Pyramids, Valley of the Kings and Philae were my personal highlights. Importantly, the country felt so safe, and I was perfectly comfortable going for a wander around Cairo and Luxor by myself in the evenings. Breath taking structures and landscapes will fill your memories. I was nervous at first to come out here but after arriving and finding nothing but friendly faces willing to help me, I quickly realized my assumptions of Egypt were wrong. The people here show nothing but love. I toured up and down Egypt visiting Cairo, Abu Simbel, Aswan and Luxor and found the same vibes everywhere. This Country has lots to offer with unique places and opportunities to adventure. Don’t get me wrong, it is still a developing country but the people here know what they want and are working towards a brighter future. This is certainly a unique time to visit an extremely unique place. We are not able to book the Sofitel Cairo Nile El Gezirah at the end of the tour. We have set post tour accommodation that we offer at a flat rate at the final hotel of the tour. This rate would include the departure transfer. If you'd like to book the Sofitel Cairo Nile El Gezirah directly, I can check if our local office will transfer you to this hotel at the end of the tour instead of the airport.
