Reykjavik
Start with a walking tour through Reykjavik's old section, passing the Parliament building, the harbor area, city hall, and the city's oldest structures. The modern Harpa Concert Hall catches your eye with its distinctive glass design. Later, you'll join other travelers for dinner at a local restaurant serving fresh Icelandic dishes.

- Day 3
Golden Circle
Head out on the Golden Circle route to see Iceland's most well-known natural sites. At Thingvellir National Park, you'll walk between two continents at the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. There's a chance to try lava bread cooked underground for 24 hours, and you'll see Gullfoss waterfall's double cascade. Watch Strokkur geyser shoot water into the air before heading back to Reykjavik for the evening on your own.

- Day 4
Husafell to Borgarnes
Travel inland toward Husafell to see waterfalls flowing over lava rock. At a local goat farm, Jóhanna, the farmer, talks about bringing the ancient breed back from extinction. Lunch features homemade farm foods. Later, you'll ride a mountain truck onto Langjökull glacier and descend into the world's largest man-made ice tunnel to see brilliant blue ice. Your base for two nights is in Borgarnes.

Snaefellsnes Peninsula
The Snaefellsnes Peninsula offers black sand beaches, peaks, volcanic craters, and fishing villages. In Arnarstapi, a village sitting below Mt. Stapafell, you have free time for lunch and can walk among the columnar basalt formations. This afternoon, Mount Kirkjufell comes into view with its distinctive freestanding shape, one of Iceland's most photographed spots.

- Day 6
Nordurland Vestra and Husavik
You're heading to the Nordurland Vestra region known for horse breeding. At a family farm, take photos of the stables and meet the animals and their caretakers. Along the way, stop at Godafoss waterfall, where according to legend Iceland converted from paganism to Christianity in AD 1000. By evening, you'll be in Husavik, one of Iceland's earliest settlements.

Lake Myvatn and Whale Watching
The volcanic area around Lake Myvatn is your focus today. Check out Hverir's geothermal zone with bubbling mud pools that look almost Martian. Then hike through Dimmuborgir with your tour manager, moving past unusual lava shapes and caves. After lunch on your own, put on thermal gear for a whale watching cruise on specialized boats in Skjálfandi Bay. You might see humpback, minke, fin, or harbor porpoise whales.
