Itinerary
- Day 1
Tangier to Chefchaouen
Start your Moroccan adventure with a scenic drive from Tangier through Tetouan and the Rif Mountains to reach Chefchaouen. Before getting to the blue city, you'll stop in Tetouan to walk through its UNESCO-listed Medina and see the local architecture. Once in Chefchaouen, spend time wandering the blue-painted streets and visiting key spots like Uta el-Hammam Square and the Kasbah. The drive takes several hours, so plan for lunch somewhere along the route, and you'll arrive with time to settle in.

- Day 2
Chefchaouen to Fes
Head out from Chefchaouen toward Fes, making scenic stops during the journey. When you arrive in this historic city, there's quite a bit to see. You'll check out Al Quaraouiyine University, which has been operating continuously longer than any other university in the world. Next, head to the Chouara Tanneries where leather-makers work using traditional methods and techniques that haven't changed much in centuries. You'll also visit the Moulay Idriss II Mausoleum, and then spend time walking through the winding streets of the UNESCO-listed Fes Medina before the day ends.

- Day 3
Fes
Spend a full day exploring Fes with a local guide who can explain what you're seeing. Start at the Bab Boujloud, the blue gate that marks the entrance to the Medina, then move through the old city while your guide points out local artisans at work in their shops. During the day you'll visit Al Quaraouiyine University again, the Chouara Tanneries, and the Moulay Idriss II Mausoleum. After that, check out the Nejjarine Museum of Wooden Arts and Crafts, which shows traditional carpentry and design. Your guide will also take you through the Jewish Quarter, called the Mellah, sharing the area's history and cultural importance. This guided approach helps you understand the city much better than walking on your own.

Fes to Meknes
Leave Fes early and travel to Meknes to see this ancient city's architecture. Once there, visit the Bab Mansour Gate, which is one of the most impressive entrances you'll see. From there, head to the Heri es-Souani granaries and stables, which are massive structures from centuries past. Stop by the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum to see the sacred site. Later in the day, travel to Volubilis, an ancient Roman city with well-preserved mosaics, columns, temples, Roman baths, and a Triumphal Arch scattered across the site. It's a worthwhile detour before heading back to Meknes for the night.

- Day 5
Meknes to Tangier
Depart Meknes and travel to Lixus near Larache to explore Phoenician and Roman ruins sitting right above the Atlantic Ocean. The site doesn't get as crowded as some others, so you can wander and take your time. Continue on to Asilah, a coastal town with an active art scene, colonial buildings, whitewashed houses, and colorful street murals covering many walls. You can relax on the beaches and walk along the ramparts for ocean views and fresh air. Later, head to Tangier where you'll explore the mix of modern shops and traditional neighborhoods, visit the Kasbah, and catch views from the Ain Diab seaside walkway as evening comes.
