Itinerary
- Day 1
Departure
Your evening flight departs for Santiago de Chile, so you'll head to the airport and settle in for the journey south.
- Day 2
Santiago
You arrive in Santiago this morning and transfer to your hotel to drop your bags. After that, a city tour takes you through the historic Plaza de Armas district and the modern Providencia area. Later in the day, you head up to Cerro San Cristóbal where you get panoramic views of the entire city spread out below.

Santiago to Valparaíso
The drive to Valparaíso takes about 140 km along the coast to reach Chile's oldest port city. You'll walk around and see the Congress and Senate buildings, then explore the city with its 16 historic funicular elevators from the late 1800s. A local winery visit lets you try Chilean wines and learn how they're made.

Calama to San Pedro de Atacama
You fly to Calama and then travel 100 km through the desert to reach San Pedro de Atacama. Once there, you head out to Moon Valley to walk among the otherworldly rock formations carved by wind and water over thousands of years.

San Pedro de Atacama
This morning you visit Pukara de Quitor, a 12th-century fortress built by the Atacameños and later reinforced by the Incas, with views across to San Pedro and the Andes. In the afternoon, you travel to Salar de Atacama, one of the largest salt lakes on the continent, where flamingos sometimes gather along the shores.

San Pedro de Atacama
You can relax in San Pedro or join an optional early morning trip to El Tatio geysers. If you go, you'll head out 220 km to see over 100 geysers performing at sunrise around 4,500 meters elevation, then return later in the day.

San Pedro to Puerto Varas
You fly back through Santiago and on to Puerto Montt in the Chilean lake district, then drive about 40 km to Puerto Varas on Lake Llanquihue. This region has German immigrant heritage from the 1800s and still maintains that cultural character.

Puerto Varas to Chiloé
A ferry takes you 200 km across to Chiloé island, famous for its legends and traditional way of life with colorful wooden houses and fishing boats everywhere. You also visit the Puñihuil penguin colony to watch Humboldt penguins in their natural habitat.

Chiloé to Osorno
You drive along Lake Llanquihue through Vicente Perez Rosales National Park, stopping at Petrohue waterfalls along the way. A boat trip on Lake Todos Los Santos gets you close-up views of the snow-capped Osorno volcano, then you continue by bus to the mountain refuge and walk through lava fields over 130 km of travel.

Osorno to Puerto Natales
You head to Puerto Montt airport and fly to Punta Arenas in deep southern Chile. From there, a bus takes you through the Patagonian steppe over 260 km to Puerto Natales.

Torres del Paine National Park
You leave early to start a two-day trip into Torres del Paine National Park, 80 km away. The day includes extensive touring with views of the Torres peaks, Grey Glacier, and Lago Grey. You'll do some shorter hikes to different viewpoints and see the rich plant and animal life before reaching your hotel late in the afternoon.

This morning you take a special boat tour on Lago Grey that gets you within meters of the glaciers. Late afternoon, you drive back through the Patagonian landscape over 80 km to Puerto Natales.

Puerto Natales to Santiago
You travel 260 km through southern Chile's impressive landscape to the Strait of Magellan, then fly from Punta Arenas back to Santiago. After you arrive, you drive to your centrally located hotel and have a farewell dinner together to reflect on everything you've seen.

Departure
Your morning is free to do any final exploring around Santiago. Then you transfer to the airport for your return flight home. Extended stay options to Easter Island are available if you want to add more time.
