Porto
You'll arrive in Porto and check into your hotel, then have the afternoon and evening to yourself. Use the CosmosGO app to wander around the city at your own pace, or just relax after your journey. Later this evening, you'll meet your Tour Director and the rest of the group at a welcome meeting.

- Day 2
Porto
A local guide takes you through Porto's highlights along the Douro River. You'll see the decorated blue and white tiles, the colorful houses stacked along the riverbanks, and check out the famous Porto wine cellars. It's the kind of place where every corner has souvenir shops and photo opportunities.

Porto to Braga
You're heading 135 miles through northern Portugal, stopping in several towns. First comes Viana do Castelo with its palaces, churches, and ornate fountains. Then Valenca do Minho, a fortress town right at the border where you can walk across the bridge into Spain. After that, Ponte de Lima shows off its ancient Roman bridge that's still in perfect condition.

Braga
Braga sits in a green, hilly landscape and you'll see the city's most important sites. The cathedral (Se) is Portugal's oldest and a major religious center. Then there's Bom Jesus do Monte, a Baroque sanctuary with a dramatic stairway where each level has granite fountains. The afternoon is yours to explore on your own.

Braga to Guarda
Today you're traveling 172 miles to some high-altitude destinations. Vila Real is your first stop, a hilltop town with stately houses featuring coats of arms and traditional ironwork. You'll taste the famous Douro Valley wines there. From there, continue to Guarda, which sits over 3,000 feet up and was founded in 1199. The city has layers of history, including an interesting Jewish heritage.

Guarda to Coimbra to Fatima
You'll cover 157 miles to reach Coimbra and Fatima. In Coimbra, a local guide shows you around one of Europe's oldest university cities and its key landmarks. After that, head to Fatima, one of the world's most visited religious shrines. The site became significant after reported visions of the Virgin Mary to three shepherd children happened there in 1917.

- Day 7
Fatima to Lisbon
The drive to Lisbon is 79 miles, and you'll get a guided tour of Portugal's capital once you arrive. You'll see the Monument to Henry the Navigator who made Lisbon the center of maritime power in the 15th century. The tour includes Belem Tower, the Moorish Citadel, and other important historical sites.
