Hobart
Head out on a guided tour of Port Arthur, a World Heritage site with significant convict history. The tour includes a cruise past the Isle of the Dead, where you'll hear about the people who were imprisoned and buried here during Tasmania's colonial past.

Hobart to Freycinet National Park
Leave Hobart this morning and head toward Freycinet National Park. You'll stop in Richmond to see the Richmond Bridge, built by convicts back in 1825 and still one of Australia's oldest stone arch bridges. Later, swing through Ross to visit the Tasmanian Wool Centre and learn about the town's wool industry. By late afternoon you'll reach your lodge overlooking Great Oyster Bay. Settle in with sunset drinks as the day winds down.

Freycinet National Park
Spend the day exploring Freycinet National Park and its natural attractions. You'll take a cruise on Wineglass Bay, known for its white sand and clear turquoise water. From there, head to Cape Tourville for dramatic coastal views looking out over the landscape.

Freycinet National Park to Launceston
Start your day at Pyengana Dairy Company, where they make some of Australia's best cheddar. You'll get to taste their products and learn how they're made. Travel inland through Legerwood and stop to see 25 hand-carved tree sculptures that form a World War I memorial. By evening you'll arrive in Launceston and check into your hotel, which was converted from a historic grain silo building.

Launceston
This morning, visit Cataract Gorge on the South Esk River right in the middle of Launceston. Ride the chairlift to take in the scenic views from above. After that, head out to Josef Chromy winery for a guided walk through the cool climate vineyard and enjoy lunch with wines paired to match each course.

Stop in Sheffield, a dairy farming town, to see its famous murals and learn about local history and wildlife. Then drive along the coast through Burnie and Penguin to see the rugged shoreline. Continue to the small village of Stanley, then finish your day in Smithton, where you'll stay near the edge of the Tarkine wilderness area.

Smithton to Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park

If weather cooperates, you'll see views of Cradle Mountain and reflections on Dove Lake. Your local guide will share stories about the early settlers who came to this region. Later, travel through Queenstown and arrive in Strahan for a two-night stay in this quiet village.

Strahan
