- CRCarol· August 5th, 2023This was the most amazing experience I’ve ever had. The trip was well planned and organised, our guides - Saul and Mariasol - were the nicest, more informative guides Ive come across. The altitude was a bit tricky but the guides were patience and tried to make the experience the best possible for all of us.Show moreAlpaca Expeditions commented on this reviewHello Carol. - KKeelykleven· August 6th, 2022This trip was sooo fabulous! Truly, I cannot say enough about Alpaca—the guides, cooks, porters, and customer service were all amazing. We did the 2D/1N with camping, and I am so happy we selected this tour. Victor is hands down the best guide out there, and I suggest everyone request him!! Thank you!Show moreTrip date: August 2022
- Ashot· June 1st, 2022We were a team of 12 people from Armenia on 2-day tour to Machu Picchu with Alpaca Expeditions. Our guide was Saul Palma. Both the company and the Guide were outstanding in their efforts to make anything possible to make our trip safe and pleasant. Saul is highly professional tour guide. He demonstrated his deep knowledge in history, archeology and art. Very attentive person. His stories were both informative and emotional at the same time. We enjoyed his telling very much. On the way to Machu Picchu we did not have big enough backpacks for staying overnight in Aguas Calientes. Saul and his company had to negotiate with the train company to permit carrying our bags on the train. We realized how difficult was for them to negotiate this as our team was the only one carrying them on the train. This and many other small details show that they really care about their clients. Great thanks to Saul and his company. Ashot HovanesianShow moreTrip date: April 2022
- Amanda· June 1st, 2022This was an absolutely incredible experience. The hike is amazing, even if the first third of it is rather challenging. Definitely spend some time acclimating in Cusco before you do it. The hike is beautiful at every turn, whether you’re scrambling up steep steps in ancient Incan communities or staring out at the mountains in awe. This is a truly, truly beautiful trek. As far as trip organization goes, Alpaca blew me away. Our guide, Walter, was absolutely incredible. We couldn’t have asked for a better one if we made one up ourselves out of thin air and magic. He was so knowledgeable, so passionate, and you could tell truly loved his job. He was able to get us into the citadel area while the weather was amazing our first day since we didn’t know what it would be like the next, and I will be forever grateful for that. The transport, food, and accommodations were all wonderful as well. Aguas Calientes is a gorgeous little town. This was an experience of a lifetime, and perfect for us since we didn’t have the time to do the full multi-day trek but still wanted to experience the Inca Trail. It was perfect. I couldn’t have had a better experience and would highly recommend booking with Alpaca Expeditions. I was also a big fan of it being run and organized completely by locals, and the owner was a former Porter so cares deeply for his team and treats them well. Overall, 10/10. Couldn’t recommend more.Show moreTrip date: May 2022
- KKyleRyan· May 8th, 2022Saul Palma was our guide for the 2-day Inca Trail Trek and he took a cool trip and made it an amazing experience! He was fun, friendly, knowledgeable, and someone who made us love our adventure. I want him to be our guide for all of our future travels and adventures in Peru. I would give this trip a 10 out of 10 because of Saul!Show moreTrip date: May 2022

- Manka· March 17th, 2022WOW! It was amazing! Starting with booking and ending with drop off - it all went smothly. Our guide DAVID Villanueva is a real treasure you could find. He took real good care of us taking into consideration the needs of everyone in the group. He knows a lot and shared the stories of the trail and Inkas all the way so that we got additional motivation to move between the stops. The hotel we spent the night is great. I slept like a baby. On a king size bed by the way :) Important to be mentioned is our cook Armando. While other hikers ate a sandwich, we got a restaurant-leval-tasty food cooked and served by Armando in the high jungle. Unbelievably good. I picked up this agency thanks to a recommendation. A friend of mine said back than: "Alpaca Expeditions are the best on the market. They will take great care of you". And he was 100% right!Show moreTrip date: March 2022

Asked on May 31st, 2025I heard that the Peruvian Ministry of Culture just changed some prices a few days ago. Previously, tickets to Machu Picchu were included in Inca Trail Permits. Now, the Machu Picchu tickets must be bought in addition to the trail permit? Anyway, just wondering if your price includes ALL permits and tickets.
- Alpaca ExpeditionsOperator•Written June 2025
You are absolutely right—just a few days ago, the Peruvian Ministry of Culture announced a sudden and, in our opinion, unreasonable change in regulations. Previously, the entrance to Machu Picchu was included with the Inca Trail permit, as has been standard practice for years. However, according to this new policy, travelers are now required to purchase an additional Machu Picchu ticket separate from the trail permit. The 2-day Inca Trail you selected originally included access to Circuit 1 of Machu Picchu on the first day, and then Circuit 3 on the second day. With this new regulation, it seems the entrance on the second day will no longer be valid under the current permit.

Asked on May 10th, 2025We have a question about the 2-day Inca Trail. We are traveling to Peru in August-September 2025 and are very eager to visit Machu Picchu. We would like to start the trail on September 7, 2025, and have a few questions: - Is it possible to book the tour through you? - Which circuit is included in the tour? - What is included in the tour? - How much does the tour cost?
- Alpaca ExpeditionsOperator•Written May 2025
You can book the tour through the TourRadar platform, and we'll take care of everything else, from tour management to accommodation and transportation. - The tour includes entrance to Machu Picchu, usually following Circuit 3, as per current regulations. - The package includes transportation, a professional guide, entrance tickets, hotel accommodation in Aguas Calientes, meals, and return train.

Asked on April 23rd, 2025Are there 2 tickets available for Machu Picchu on May 2nd in the afternoon for circuit 2B, and what is the price?
- Alpaca ExpeditionsOperator•Written April 2025
We currently do not have availability for the dates you have requested. We would be happy to present alternative date options or similar tours that may match your interests and needs.

Asked on August 7th, 2024We are interested in circuit 2 + Inca Bridge and also doing the Huayna Hike. Is this the circuit you do for the tour on day 2?
- Alpaca ExpeditionsOperator•Written August 2024
Regarding your questions: 1. Would you like to hike Huayna Picchu? This is a popular Mountain Hike in the background of Machu Picchu. Many people want to hike this, and it is possible to do this after the Machu Picchu guided tour. This hike is 2 hours up and down, and it will be after your guided tour in Machu Picchu citadel (starting at 9 am). The cost is $75 USD for each ticket and needs to be booked in advance. Last-minute booking is not possible for this hike, as only 75 spots are available. 2. Unfortunately, permits for Inca Bridge on October 6th, 2024 are totally SOLD OUT. 3. The circuit included in the package is number 3.

Asked on December 12th, 2023I wonder if you would allow my father to join the trip. Is there a way to test if an old man can join this route or you only use the age as qualifications
- Alpaca ExpeditionsOperator•Written December 2023
Regarding the question of your father, we will very happy to have him to join on our group, he can make the hike, but first is better that he talk with his doctor.

- Alpaca ExpeditionsOperator•Written September 2022
The service is expedition class both ways, but if you want an upgrade in Vistadone is only the return and the cost for this service is $75.00 per person.

Traveler•Written September 2022Can I also book Humantey Lake and Rainbow Mountain with you? Will you do a 4 day package with these things for us?
- A
Allan
Traveler•Written September 2022The hotel version is better for us. Do you also have the other two tours... Humantey and Rainbow Mountain?
- Alpaca ExpeditionsOperator•Written September 2022
We have different prices for the private tour. If you are interested in the private group service, we like to give these rates. Absolutely yes, we can add both tours in our office. Only we need that you do the confirmation for both tours.

Allan
Traveler•Written September 2022When I try to book on here, the price has gone up. I won't pay the price increase... the price at time of booking should be honoured? For all three tours.
- Alpaca ExpeditionsOperator•Written September 2022
What could have happened is that the dollar exchange rate has caused the price to vary. The page does not increase the price. When you make the reservation this will be the price, we can not make changes.

Asked on March 23rd, 2022Can we leave our belongings (i.e. suitcase) behind and just hike with a small backpack? Or are we expected to hike with all of our belongings? How do we add on a ticket to Huayna Picchu?
- Alpaca ExpeditionsOperator•Written March 2022
You need small day to take the thing your need for the hike, your suitcase you can store with us in Cusco, but in case you need some things for Aguas Calientes, we can send by train.
