- Veronika· February 28th, 2025I took a 6-day wilderness tour with a guide in Tasmania and I must say that it was one of the unforgettable experiences of my life. An excellently chosen route that provided activities of various types and levels, an excellent guide Brandon, who was able to accurately assess moods and levels of fatigue. Moreover, he was extremely pleasant and funny, always smiling. And last but not least, I was lucky to have people in the group who, although they were of different ages and nationalities, always helped me and created a close, almost family atmosphere. I was really sad when the trip ended. Tasmania is such a beautiful country, but we should always be respectful of its culture.Show moreUnder Down Under Tours commented on this reviewThank you Veronika. - DBDorothy· October 31st, 2024As a woman who often travels alone my first observation about this tour is that I felt safe. From the moment our guide/driver introduced himself and took my luggage I felt respected and cared for : safe. When you are safe you can relax - physically (the muscles I used most on this trip were the ones that make me smile) mentally (all excellently planned by U-D-U, daily adjustments made with no fuss) and verbally – we teased our 'tour god' to bits. The 6-day tour geographically covered many of Tasmania's main attractions. Local knowledge of scenic viewpoints, animal sites (saw my first wombats!) and wine and coffee stops added to the diversity and pleasure of the holiday. Accommodation was all decent, some excellent. We were blessed in being a sociable group and having sunny weather, too. For those thinking of booking a tour, remember: -You can't change the scenery (and wouldn't want to, it's terrific) - You can't change your fellow passengers - You can't change the weather What you CAN do is book with Under Down Under; you will be well cared for, walk as little or as much as you like, see whatever you want to see and have a wonderful holiday. Campbell – You are a gem. Considering your interest in geology I hesitate to hazard a guess as to what type of gem – but I know it is rare and of high value. Please look after yourself as well as you look after your passengers. Thanks Under Down Under, great holiday.Show moreUnder Down Under Tours commented on this reviewThanks Dorothy. We'll make sure that Campbell gets to see this one. We really appreciate the detail you've provided as we know that as a brand new product (first tours October 2024!) there aren't many reviews yet, so detailed testimonies like yours are... Asked on March 2nd, 2025I had a serious accident and mangled my foot 10 years ago and spent years learning to walk. I have a huge wish to do a nature walk and can manage 2- 4 km ok but would be concerned if if your walks range in the 6-10 km per day. What level of fitness is expected for this tour please?
- Under Down Under ToursOperator•Written March 2025
By the sounds of it, this tour is the best of those we offer as it offers numerous walks that are shorter in distance. Based on your description, you will be fine on Day 1 and Day 2. At Cradle Mountain, the Dove Lake Circuit (6km) might be a bit much, but you can still enjoy the park and do shorter walks at Dove Lake to Glacial Rock and/or the Boat Shed, and along Ronny Creek (along a board walk). Day 4 should also be ok as Cataract Gorge is about 2-3km on easy trail, and you can walk as much or as little as you like at the Bay of Fires. At Freycinet National Park (Day 5), if you can manage steps and uneven gravel surfaces and are fit enough to climb uphill slowly for around 40 minutes, you could attempt the Wineglass Bay Lookout. However, many some guests are unable to do that but still enjoy Honeymoon Bay for lovely scenery and a short walk to Cape Tourville Lighthouse. Day 6 at Port Arthur should also be ok as you can choose how much to walk at the historic site, and the walks in Tasman National Parks to see the geological formations are all quite short.
