Itinerary
- Day 1
Marrakech to Boulmane Dades
You'll leave Marrakech early and head through the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass at 2260m with views of Berber villages along the way. After that, you'll check out Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage fortress city that's well-preserved and worth wandering through. From there, the route follows the Road of One Thousand Kasbahs, taking you past the Skoura Oasis and the Valley of the Roses before heading through the Tamnalt Hills. You'll arrive at your hotel in Boulmane Dades by evening.

- Day 2
Boulmane Dades to Mhamid
After breakfast, you're heading to Mhamid El Ghozlane, the final village before things get more remote and desert-focused. The drive takes you through the Saghro Mountains and across palm groves and Draa Valley oases. You'll stop at the ancient library of Tamegroute, which holds texts dating back to the 13th century and is Africa's oldest library. There's time to look around the local pottery shops before you reach your hotel in Mhamid early in the evening.

Erg Chigaga Desert Adventure
This is a 60km off-road drive from Mhamid to Erg Chigaga Dunes, crossing Hamadas through the Moroccan desert. You'll meet Saharan nomads living in the region and learn how they actually live out here. As evening comes, you can catch the sunset from the dunes, climb around if you want, or stay up to watch shooting stars. You'll spend the night at a Berber-tented camp in the desert.

Erg Chigaga to Marrakech
After breakfast, you're driving down the sand dunes on off-track wilderness following old Dakar routes, passing Iriki's natural dried lake. The off-road section covers considerable distance before reaching regular road through Foum-Zguid and Tazenakht, a historic trading post known for carpet weaving. From there, it's the return journey to Marrakech, where you'll arrive by late evening.
