Itinerary
- Day 1
Marrakech to Ouarzazate
You'll start early from Marrakech and head through the High Atlas Mountains, passing over the Tizi-n-Tichka pass at about 7,400 feet. The drive shows off Berber villages tucked into the valleys below, so there's plenty to see from the car. After crossing the mountains, you'll stop at Kasbah Telouet, a historic fortress that gives you a real sense of the region's past. From there, the route takes you through Ounila Valley before reaching Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO site with clay buildings stacked against the hillside that's been used in film productions. You'll finish the day in Ouarzazate and stay overnight there.

- Day 2
Ouarzazate to Erg Chigaga
This morning involves driving through Draa Valley where the scenery keeps changing as you go. The landscape shifts from green valleys to desert terrain. Around midday, you'll head off-road for roughly 60 kilometers from the Saharan village of M'hamid el ghozlane toward Erg Chigaga Dunes. The route crosses the Hamadas, which are flat rocky plateaus, before reaching the sand dunes themselves. Later in the afternoon, you'll spend about an hour on a camel trek to watch the sun drop over the dunes. After that, you can climb around on the sand, explore the area, or stay out after dark to catch the stars. You'll sleep at a luxury Berber camp with tented accommodations.

- Day 3
Erg Chigaga to Marrakech
You'll start the drive back from the dunes to M'hamid in the morning using quieter off-track routes that wind through the golden sand. The return journey to Marrakech is quite long, so plan for most of the day in the car. You'll pass through the same valleys and mountain passes you came through earlier. By late evening, you'll arrive back at your accommodation in Marrakech, finishing up your 3-day Sahara experience.
