Itinerary
- Day 1
New York to Niagara Falls
You'll leave New York and head north through the Delaware Water Gap toward Watkins Glen State Park. Once there, walk through the canyon to check out the waterfalls and get a sense of the landscape. From there, continue on to Niagara Falls, arriving in the late afternoon. After settling in, head to the US side to see American Falls, Goat Island, and Luna Island. Then you'll board the Maid of the Mist to get right up close to the power of the falls from the water. By evening, stick around to see the colored lighting on the water, which really transforms the whole area after dark.

Niagara Falls to Toronto to 1000 Islands
Start the morning looking out at Horseshoe Falls, then head to the village of Niagara-on-the-Lake for some time exploring. Later, you'll make your way to Toronto where there's quite a bit to cover: HTO Park, Brookfield Place (which houses the Hockey Hall of Fame), City Hall, and The Distillery Historic District. In the evening, you'll depart Toronto heading east along Lake Ontario toward the 1000 Islands area. If you're traveling in April, weather could affect this leg, so there's a chance you might need to return to Niagara Falls for the night instead.

1000 Islands to New York
You'll start with a cruise through the 1000 Islands along the St. Lawrence River. From the water, you can see historic homes and private islands, including Boldt Castle and Heart Island. After the cruise wraps up, you'll head toward New York with a stop at large outlet malls where you can hunt for brand name bargains and do some shopping. The drive back to New York takes place in the evening, so you'll arrive after dark.
