Baku
Your guide takes you through the winding streets of Icheri Sheher, the old town protected by 12th-century walls. You'll see the Maiden Tower and the ornate Shirvan Shah Palace, along with several historic mosques and tombs tucked into this UNESCO site. After lunch, head to modern Baku where you can check out the contemporary architecture of the Baku White City project and spend time at Fountain Square to relax before the evening.

Baku - Gobustan - Absheron
Travel south along the Caspian coast toward the volcanic desert and Gobustan's archaeological reserve. You'll walk among thousands of Stone Age rock paintings showing hunting scenes and ships, plus carvings left by Alexander the Great and Roman legionnaires. From there, continue east to the Absheron peninsula to see the Atashgah, a former Zoroastrian temple that's now a museum, and visit Yanar Dag hill where natural flames burn from the hillside.

Baku - Shamakhi - Sheki
Head northwest through barren landscape toward the snow-capped Greater Caucasus mountains. Stop in Maraza to visit the two-storey Diri Baba Mausoleum, then continue to Shamakhi, the former capital, where you'll see the historic Juma Mosque. By evening you'll reach Sheki, an architectural gem over 2,000 years old with its old town recently listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Sheki

Later, visit traditional caravanserais and learn glass painting from a Shebeke master. Spend time in local shops selling Sheki's famous halva sweets, silk, and carpets.

Head to Ganja at the foot of the Lesser Caucasus, a historic city split by a river and known for wine and silk. You'll see the 17th-century Shah Abbas Mosque, an Orthodox Church, and the Mausoleum of Nizami, a medieval writer. Check out the Glass Bottle House decorated with 50,000 bottles. After that, drive to Goy Gol lake and its scenic national park before arriving in Gabala to explore the museum and fortress ruins.

Tour the Sakine Khanum and Ardabil mosques, see the historical museum formerly home to Abbasgulu Bakhihanov, and stop at the scenic Ajurdja waterfall and Tengialty Canyon before reaching Guba.

Back in Baku by evening, take a final stroll through the capital and soak in the atmosphere.
