  1. Day 1

    Ushuaia

    You'll arrive in Ushuaia and head to your hotel to get settled in. The rest of the day is open for you to wander around the city or take it easy if you're tired from travel. That evening you'll meet up with your tour leader and the other travelers at a welcome meeting to go over what's ahead.

  2. Day 2

    Ushuaia - Beagle Channel - Mount Martial

    After breakfast you'll head to the tourist pier for a boat trip along the Beagle Channel. You'll stop at Alicia Island to see South American sea lions, then Bird Island for king and imperial shags, and check out the Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse from 1919. On Bridges Island you'll do a guided walk learning about the Yamana people and their shell middens while taking in views of the channel. After lunch there's a hike up Mount Martial as the sun starts setting, followed by dinner in a mountain dome with regional food.

  3. Day 3

    Tierra del Fuego National Park

    You'll head to Tierra del Fuego National Park after breakfast and walk medium-difficulty trails through rivers, mountains, forests, and coastal areas. Lunch happens at Acigami Lake in a dining tent. Later you'll put on rubber boots and life jackets (provided), then paddle inflatable canoes through the Lapataia and Ovando rivers out to Lapataia Bay.

  4. Day 4

    Ushuaia to Punta Arenas

    Start early with breakfast before driving to Punta Arenas in Chile, crossing the Argentina-Chile border. It's a long stretch of road, so you'll spend most of the day traveling. Once you arrive you'll check into your hotel and have dinner included with the group.

  5. Day 5

    Punta Arenas - Strait of Magellan - Puerto Natales

    After breakfast you'll head out for a medium-difficulty kayaking tour through the Strait of Magellan, named after the explorer who first sailed through it. You'll paddle with views of Punta Arenas and Tierra del Fuego, and there's a good chance to spot dolphins and sea lions. Kayaking wraps up around 1 pm. At 3 pm you'll catch a local bus to Puerto Natales and have dinner when you arrive.

    Torres del Paine National Park

    After an early breakfast it's about an hour's drive to Torres del Paine National Park. Your guide will go over the hiking route with you. You'll cross a traditional wooden bridge above the Ascencio River, then climb through green foothills with steeper sections and great views. After just over an hour you'll reach the three iconic Torres del Paine peaks with a crystal-clear lake below. You'll rest and have a picnic lunch at this spot, then head back down.

    Puerto Natales to El Calafate

    You'll leave Puerto Natales and drive back into Argentina toward El Calafate. The afternoon and early evening are yours to do what you want, whether that's relaxing or checking out the town. Later there's a special closed door dinner included with your group.

  8. Day 8

    Perito Moreno Glacier

    Today focuses on Perito Moreno Glacier, a major natural sight in the region. The glacier flows from the Patagonian Icefield and you'll get right up close to it, just meters from the ice face. You'll hear the loud cracks and rumbles as chunks of ice break off and collapse into the turquoise water below.

  9. Day 9

    El Calafate to El Chaltén

    You'll board your vehicle early for a three-hour drive to El Chaltén with views of Lake Argentino and Viedma Glacier. Along the way you'll spot Cerro Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre with their unique landscapes. There's a brief stop at Parador La Leona where you'll have 15 minutes to check out the museum, café, and see the historic property connected to explorer Francisco Moreno. The rest of your afternoon is free to explore El Chaltén however you like.

  10. Day 10

    El Chaltén - Fitz Roy Trail

    El Chaltén is known as Patagonia's hiking capital, and today you'll tackle the Fitz Roy Trail. You'll climb gently over the Río de las Vueltas valley for a couple hours to reach the first views of the Fitz Roy massif. From there you'll continue to Río Blanco, where climbers base camp on the east side. A steep one-hour push gets you to Laguna de los Tres, one of the park's best viewpoints. You'll see the brilliant blue lake with Fitz Roy's spires and glaciers towering 600 to 1500 meters above. You'll hike back to El Chaltén in the evening, arriving before dark.

    Lago del Desierto

    You'll drive about an hour to Lago del Desierto, making several stops along the way to take in the Patagonian landscapes. Once there you'll have roughly five hours to do what interests you. You can take a tourist boat on the lake or hike to the Huemul and Vespignani Glacier. From the lake shores you'll see Mount Fitz Roy rising about 11,000 feet. The area has thick Patagonian forests with white oaks and Antarctic beeches. You'll head back to your hotel around 5:30 pm.
