Reviews of Small Group tours to Argentina And Chile
- South America: Glaciers, Water Falls & World WondersWe had a great trip, everything was well coordinated by Wanderful holidays. They were in contact everyday to ensure everything was fine. We had a minor hiccup with one hotel but Wanderful sorted this very quickly. Very quick to respond to any questions. The tour was a mix of private guides for just 2 people and some group tours but all worked out well. Special mention to our private guide Jim. At Iguaçu falls. Went above and beyond and definitely made our visit to the falls one of our highlights. All our accommodation and transfers were wonderful. Would use Wanderful holidays again.
- Rio de Janeiro to Santiago de Chile - 17 DaysGreat tour, well organised with options to personalise the accommodation and activities. Bus trips were more comfortable than I had feared, although the 28 hours Rio to Iguassu was a little much even for me. Planned activities were good - particularly the cycling tour in Buenos Aires.
What our customers ask about Argentina and Chile Small Group Tours
- What is the best season for small group tours in Argentina and Chile?- October through March brings reliable weather for outdoor activities in Patagonia and the Lake District making it ideal for small group tours. These months provide good conditions for hiking in Torres del Paine and exploring the region. While Mendoza and Buenos Aires work well any time of year the spring and summer months offer the most consistent conditions for group activities.
- What is the typical age range and demographic on small group tours in Argentina and Chile?- Most travelers fall between 40-57 years old with solo travelers making up 65-69% of groups and couples accounting for 30-35%. The tours draw active people who want both outdoor adventures and comfortable places to stay like the Rochester Hotel in El Calafate or Hotel Factoria in Puerto Natales. As one TourRadar traveler mentioned: "Our group of 10 ranged from 30-65 years old and everyone bonded over shared interests in hiking and photography."
- What is the typical group size for small group tours in Argentina and Chile?- Groups usually include 6-12 travelers which works well for exploring key sites like Torres del Paine National Park and the Mendoza wine region. This size lets travelers stay at select properties like Altiplanico Bellas Artes in Santiago and Arakur Resort in Ushuaia. As one TourRadar traveler noted "The small group size made it easy to get to know everyone and meant we could stay at charming local properties that larger groups can't access."
- What types of accommodations can I expect on a small group tour in Argentina and Chile?- The focus is on boutique hotels and upscale lodges rather than large chain properties. Travelers often stay at places like the historic Altiplanico Bellas Artes in Santiago's arts district or the mountain-view rooms at Arakur Resort in Ushuaia. Remote locations like Torres del Paine feature stays at intimate eco-lodges such as La Baita Conguillio. One TourRadar traveler noted: "The accommodations were a highlight - from historic properties in Santiago to stunning eco-lodges in Patagonia each offered unique character and excellent service."
- How do small group tours handle border crossings between Argentina and Chile?- Smaller groups move through border checkpoints more quickly than large tours. Guides manage all paperwork at crossings like Paso Internacional Los Libertadores between Santiago and Mendoza or Cristo Redentor in the Andes. A TourRadar traveler shared: "Our small group breezed through customs between Chile and Argentina with our guide handling all the details making it completely stress-free."
- What are the key benefits of choosing a small group tour in Argentina and Chile?- These tours allow for adjusting plans on the fly visiting small family wineries in Mendoza's Uco Valley taking private tango classes in Buenos Aires or getting close to wildlife in Patagonia. Groups can easily modify hiking speeds stop at local markets and have real conversations with gauchos at their farms. A TourRadar traveler mentioned "With our small group we could spontaneously stop at local markets adjust hiking paces in Torres del Paine and have meaningful cultural exchanges with gauchos at their estancias - experiences that wouldn't be possible with a large group."
- What is the dining experience like on small group tours in Argentina and Chile?- Smaller groups can eat at local restaurants and enjoy special meals that big tours miss out on. Options include private barbecues at estancias near Bariloche special wine-paired dinners at small Mendoza vineyards and meals in local homes.
