- Day 1
Broome to Fitzroy Crossing
Your Kimberley adventure kicks off in Broome, then you'll drive toward Derby to see the historic Boab Prison Tree, which once held Aboriginal prisoners. From there, continue along the Great Northern Highway to Fitzroy Crossing and check into your lodge for the night.

- Day 2
Fitzroy Crossing to Kununurra
Take a cruise through the 14-kilometre Geikie Gorge National Park carved by the Fitzroy River, where you'll see freshwater crocodiles and ancient limestone. Pass through Halls Creek to view the China Wall quartz formation, then drive past the Durack and Carr Boyd Ranges before arriving in Kununurra.

Kununurra
Spend time at El Questro Wilderness Park with a short walk to one of its gorges. Head north to Wyndham and take in the panoramic views from Five Rivers Lookout across the Ord, Forrest, King, Durack, and Pentecost Rivers. Depending on the season, you might stop at Parry Lagoons for birdwatching or swim at The Grotto, a natural pool ringed by steep rock walls, before heading back to Kununurra.

Kununurra
Visit the Durack Homestead Museum at Lake Argyle to learn about the region's early settler history. After that, board a 55-kilometre river cruise down the Ord River where you'll see dramatic landscapes, wildlife, and the golden light of sunset.

Kununurra
Fly over the Bungle Bungle Range in Purnululu National Park in a light aircraft to see the distinctive beehive-like domes from above. Land and join a guided 4WD and walking tour through the formations, check out Cathedral Gorge with its natural acoustics, have a picnic lunch, then fly back past the Argyle Diamond Mine and Osmand Range.

Kununurra to Katherine
Cross from Western Australia into the Northern Territory and adjust your watch 1.5 hours ahead. Travel along the Victoria Highway to Katherine, an outback town where you'll settle into your resort-style accommodation for the evening.

Katherine
Start with a cruise through Katherine Gorge (Nitmiluk National Park), taking in the towering cliffs and Aboriginal rock art on the gorge walls. Then head into Kakadu National Park to see Nourlangie Rock and its ancient rock galleries that span over 20,000 years of Aboriginal art.

- Day 8
Kakadu National Park to Darwin
Get up early for a cruise on Yellow Water Billabong, a prime location for spotting crocodiles and watching birds. Later, visit Ubirr Rock, home to one of the world's oldest Aboriginal art galleries with sweeping wetland views. After stopping at Mamukala Wetlands, drive to Darwin where your journey concludes in the evening.
