- jeff· January 21st, 2025The tour was an unforgettable experience with the opportunity to visit the small towns and villages of rural Vietnam and Cambodia with locals. Probably best for experienced cyclists. The guides on the trip provided continuous updates on where we were going, what we would be seeing, and encouraged us to stop and take pictures along the way. They explained places of cultural significance, pointed out different crops, and were happy to answer questions. There were three guides: one at the front, one at the back (also a bike mechanic), and another in the middle and doing all photography. The lead guide for Vietnam was from Vietnam, and the lead guide for Cambodia was from Cambodia, as was intentional by the company to ensure that the trip was truly led by locals. They anticipated the cyclists’ needs very well; every 10 to 15 km we had stops for water breaks, including various options for juices and electrolyte water, dried and fresh fruit, and locally produced snacks. The guides made adjustments to the daily plan based on our capabilities, interests, and energy level. The lunch stops were always local places with lots of options for any dietary restriction. The guides specifically had us visit significant spots to each village, and even had us stop for meals at locals’ homes. At the end of the day, the guides oriented us to each city that we stopped in and recommended things to visit and places to eat. The hotels were clean and satisfactory, but not the highest end hotels; more than adequate for the overnights. The cycling itself was great. We rode on paved paths, asphalt, gravel, dirt, single tracks, and the guides ensured that we were aware of the coming terrain and could go whatever speed we wanted. The bikes themselves were good quality mountain bikes (e-bikes available) and the mechanic made any necessary adjustments, even putting on different seats (woman’s seat on advance request). We rode 30-70km per day, depending on the schedule and choice, as someone could always finish early and just ride in the passenger van. The trip was specifically curated so that there was a balance between cycling and important cultural experiences. Would definitely recommend if you enjoy cycling and seeing Vietnam and Cambodia differently from just being in the major cities.Show more
