If I said it wasn't cold, I would be a liar. It is very cold, but with how incredible this place is, they will be focused on something else. Note not to forget, wear thermal clothing.

    Asked on August 8th, 2023

We are a group of 5 that will be in Chile/Punta Arenas in mid October of 2023 and we would really like to get to Antarctica, and this overnight itinerary is exactly what we're looking for -- it hits the sightseeing highlights with the bonus of overnight. Is there any option for us to do something like this in October?

    • Signature DMCOperatorWritten August 2023

In October we still do not operate Antarctica trip. This is basically because the weather conditions are still bad but, on the other hand, the runway on King George Island is still "contaminated". This means that it has a layer of ice that forms during the winter and melting is a natural process. That is why we start in December because between the end of October and the month of November, due to the rise in temperatures, this process begins but we do not know how long it may take since it is subject to the conditions of the moment.

Are dogs allowed? We have an extremely well behaved and trained 45 pound golden retriever. We frequently go backpacking with her. She is trained to stay close and never wanders near wildlife.

Unfortunately not. Dogs are not allowed.

Any better rates for overnight to Antarctica? When should we arrive?

    • Signature DMCOperatorWritten August 2022

Going to Antarctica is expensive when you think about the costs they endure. The standard of accommodation, the equipment, the zodiac boats, the permits, the food, and everything else it takes to safely get to this isolated continent are all very high ticket items. If you choose departure on December 28th, you should arrive to Pta. Arenas 2 or 3 days before the day of the trip. The arrival in Punta Arenas, the day before of the trip, must be NO LATER THAN 5 pm in order to be part of the briefing.

Can this tour be done at the end of December 2022 between Dec 20-28?

    • Signature DMCOperatorWritten February 2022

Yes, it would be a private tour so you can select the dates. You must schedule a 3 days window when planning Antarctic visit and to make the tour, just in case of bad weather conditions that might postpone the program.
