Itinerary
- Day 1
Puerto Natales to Torres del Paine National Park
Start with a two-hour bus ride from Puerto Natales to Torres del Paine National Park, covering about 70 miles through scenic terrain. Once you arrive and register at the park entrance, a shuttle takes you to Las Torres sector. The main event is an 18km hike that'll take roughly 8 hours total. You'll tackle Mount Almirante Nieto first, walking through ancient lenga forests and getting views of the Asencio Valley and Lake Nordenskjold. The real challenge comes with the steep ascent to Mirador Base Torres, which gives you the best viewpoint of the three Torres del Paine peaks. By evening you'll reach Refugio Central where you're staying.

Torres del Paine National Park
After breakfast, you'll hike for four hours toward Refugio Cuernos, covering 11km. The trail runs along the base of Mount Almirante Nieto and you'll need to hop across several rivers along the way. Glaciers and mountain summits come into view as you progress through the landscape. The path eventually reaches the shore of Lake Nordenskjold where Refugio Cuernos sits right at the foot of the dramatic Cuernos peaks. You'll spend the night here with those impressive rock formations surrounding the refuge.

Torres del Paine National Park
You'll start after breakfast and hike 2.5 hours to Campamento Italiano, crossing a windy beach before finding shelter in the valley. From there, you'll leave your main pack and daypack into French Valley with just what you need, moving through moraine and forest terrain. At the clearing you get great views of Lake Nordenskjold, glaciers, and the peaks all around. After heading back to get your full pack, you'll hike another 2.5 hours to Refugio Paine Grande on the shore of Lake Pehoe. This 17.3km day wraps up at the refuge.

Torres del Paine National Park
Following breakfast, you'll hike through a small forest and then along Lake Grey. The terrain opens up here and wind is typically pretty strong. Around two hours in, you'll catch your first real look at Glacier Grey. Continue for another two hours until reaching Refugio & Camping Grey where you'll stay the night. From your accommodation you'll have direct views of the glacier and the Southern Ice Field stretching out beyond.

Torres del Paine National Park to Puerto Natales
The morning's yours to do what you'd like. Some people hike to the park's suspension bridges, others relax along Lake Grey's shores, or there's an optional kayaking excursion available if you're interested. After that, you'll hike back the same trail for about 4 hours to Refugio Paine Grande. From the refuge, head to the dock on Lake Pehoe and board a catamaran across the water to Pudeto Sector. Then it's time to catch the bus back to Puerto Natales.
