- Day 1
Arrival
Your driver meets you at the airport or ferry terminal with a namecard and takes you to your hotel. This is your arrival day, so you'll get settled in and have the rest of the day to yourself.

Tangier
Tangier gives you a feel for Morocco's position between Europe and Africa. Start with Cap Spartel Lighthouse 14km west of the city, then check out the Grottes d'Hercule cave famous for its Africa-shaped opening. Walk through the 15th century Medina and visit the Kasbah Museum of Mediterranean Culture along with St Andrew's Church and the Centre Culturel Ibn Khaldoun.

Tangier to Chefchaouen to Fes
You'll head into the Rif Mountains toward Chefchaouen, the Blue Town with its bright blue medina and red Kasbah overlooking Outa Hmam square. The isolated Andalusian-influenced setting beneath jagged peaks creates a unique atmosphere. By afternoon you continue to Fes, known as the Imperial city with an ancient medina that's essential to see.

Fes
With a private guide born in Fes, you'll walk through the world's largest medina. The guide takes you to America Fondouk, Nejjarines, the Tanneries, the Medersa, and Karaouine, the first university established in the world. You'll hear 1200 years of history in this UNESCO-protected space. The afternoon offers optional extensions if you want more time exploring.

Fes to Meknes to Rabat to Casablanca
Leaving Fes heading west, you'll stop in Meknes first. Walk through the famed gate Bab El Mansour and see Dar Jamai Palace and Museum, royal stables, Hedim square, and Moulay Ismail tomb. From there you'll continue to Rabat to view Bab El Mansour, Hassan Tower, and the royal Mausoleum. Finally you arrive in Casablanca to see Hassan II Mosque with its retractable roof overlooking the ocean.

Casablanca to El-Jadida to Safi to Essaouira
Starting around 8am you head southwest to El-Jadida, a 15th century Portuguese fortified city and UNESCO site with Portuguese structures and ramparts. Next you'll go to Safi, known for sardines and pottery with a medina built by the Portuguese in the 16th century. By evening you reach Essaouira, Morocco's laid-back beach city.

Essaouira
Most of your day is spent in Essaouira, Jimi Hendrix's inspirational town. You can walk the 15th century ramparts and forts around the Medina of Mogador, explore the Mellah, visit the fishing port for fresh fish, or try windsurfing and kitesurfing if you're interested in water sports. It's a relaxed day with options based on what you prefer.

Essaouira to Agadir to Souss-Massa to Mirleft to Sidi Ifni
An early start takes you south through Atlantic coastal areas with white beaches. You'll see Agadir, rebuilt after a 1960 earthquake, with its busy port and beach beneath the Kasbah. Stop at the Souss-Massa national bird reserve park and Mirleft for mint tea. Finish the day at Sidi Ifni, an Art Deco military town built on a cliff in 1930.

Sidi Ifni to Tafraoute
From Sidi Ifni you head to Tafraoute in the Ameln Valley surrounded by red-granite mountains with rock carvings. This stone-built village of around 5,000 people has a relaxed feel. Walk around to see rock formations like Napoleon's Hat and the Pierres Peintes, which were painted blue and pink by a Belgian artist.

Tafraoute to Akka to Oum El Alek to Tata
You'll travel through a wind-eroded landscape of red-granite formations and craggy cliffs. Pass through Akka, an oasis whose name means dates in Berber, and Oum El Alek with more rock carvings. Arrive at Tata, which means take a break in Berber, where you can explore the palmeraie with its pink-colored buildings and recall the area's history of Saharan caravans.

Tata to Erg Chigaga Desert
This morning you prepare to enter Erg Chigaga, Morocco's largest sand sea. You'll travel on rough roads through towering dunes and golden sand. After dinner in the middle of the desert, you'll watch the twinkling stars before drifting off to sleep surrounded by sand.

Erg Chigaga Desert
Experience nomadic life with a camel guide exploring the Sahara. You'll ride through the 300-meter-high dunes and discover the fauna, flora, and history of the desert. Lunch happens in the middle of nowhere surrounded by towering sand, giving you a true sense of the vastness around you.

Erg Chigaga to Todgha Gorges
Wake at dawn to watch the sunrise in the Sahara as cool blue morning sky replaces the darkness. You'll exit Erg Chigaga heading north to Todgha Gorges with their gigantic rock walls that shift color throughout the day. Stop to visit the Zawiya Naciria, a pilgrimage site with a working Quranic school and library that once held 4,000 ancient illuminated texts.

Todgha Gorges to Imilchil to Bin Elouidane
Travel to Imilchil across Middle Atlas Berber villages on a winding trip through Boutfarda and Taglaft. You'll arrive at Bin Elouidane Dam, one of Morocco's earliest irrigation projects that transformed the local landscape. Spend time relaxing by the deep-blue waters where several hotels have recently opened along the shores.

Bin Elouidane to Cascades d'Ouzoud
Without rushing this morning, head south about 167km from Marrakech to Cascades d'Ouzoud waterfall. The amphitheater of falls drops into pools in a lush valley that stays hidden until the last moment. Walk down into the cool canyon to see late-afternoon rainbows in the mist and reach Tanaghemlt, a Berber village connected by semi-underground passages. Longer treks can include the Gramâa Nakrouine caves.

With your private Marrakech-born guide, you'll explore the Red City starting from the old Medina with its narrow lanes leading to lavish palaces, tombs, and monuments decorated in marble. Visit Bahia Palace, El-Badii Palace, and Saadien's Tombs, then check out Majorelle Garden and the Berber Museum. The vibrant Jemaa El-Fnaa square has thousands of motorcyclists, horse-carts, musicians, and performance troupes.
