  1. Day 1

    Kathmandu

    You'll arrive in Kathmandu with views of the Himalayan ranges from the air. After getting picked up at Tribhuvan International Airport, your driver takes you to the hotel. Later that evening, you'll meet your guide to go over the trek details and have a traditional Nepali Thakali thali dinner.

    Kathmandu

    After breakfast, spend the day shopping for any trekking gear you might still need and doing a full check on all your equipment to make sure everything's ready for what's ahead.

  3. Day 3

    Lukla to Phakding

    You'll catch an early 30-minute flight to Lukla with breakfast and briefing once you land. From there, trek downhill past Chauri Kharka village to the Dudh Koshi River, passing sacred Khumbila peak. You'll reach Phakding (2,610m) by day's end and have time to walk around the village.

  4. Day 4

    Phakding to Namche Bazaar

    Trek for 6-7 hours covering 10.5 km through pine and conifer forests, crossing the Dudh Koshi River and several suspension bridges including the famous Hillary Suspension Bridge. You'll stop at Sagarmatha National Park to arrange permits, then break for lunch at Jorsale. The final climb to Namche Bazaar is tough, but you'll get your first look at Mount Everest when you arrive.

    Namche Bazaar (Acclimatization)

    This is your first acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar. Wander through the village's bakeries, cafes, and shops, or hike to viewpoints for sunrise views of Mount Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Lhotse. You can also visit the Sherpa Culture Museum, hike to Everest View Hotel, check out Khumjung and Kunde settlements, see Sir Edmund Hillary's school, or visit the 400-year-old Khumjung Monastery.

    Namche Bazaar to Tengboche

    Trek for 5-6 hours covering 10 km through oak, juniper, conifer, and rhododendron forests with views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam along the way. You'll arrive at Tengboche where you can see Ama Dablam up close and visit the Khumbu region's oldest Buddhist monastery.

After lunch, take a short exploratory hike to help with acclimatization before resting for the evening.

    This is your second acclimatization day at high altitude. Take a hike to Nangkatshang or Nagarjun hill reaching 5,100m, a viewpoint named after a Buddhist monk with 360-degree views of Makalu, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and the Imja glacier. Return to the village afterward to rest and relax.

You'll stop for lunch in Thukla at 4,600m where you'll see memorial stupas honoring mountaineers who died on Everest. Take a short evening hike to aid digestion and help with sleep.

    After breakfast, trek for 7-8 hours covering 12 km to reach Everest Base Camp at 5,364m. This is a difficult day with reduced oxygen, so trek slowly and steadily as your guide directs. Leave your heavy belongings at Gorak Shep teahouse before making the final push to Base Camp.

    Kala Patthar and Return to Lobuche

    Wake early and hike to Kala Patthar at 5,550m, the most popular overlook in the Everest Region with 360-degree views of Mount Everest, Pumori, Nuptse, and Lhotse. Watch the flaming rays of sun light up Everest's snowy peak. Return to Gorak Shep for hot breakfast, then trek down to Lobuche.

    Lobuche to Chukkung

    Leave early after breakfast and cross the Khumbu Glacier, then ascend Kongma La pass, an isolated route with no teahouses that's filled with rubble and debris. From the prayer flag-covered pass, you'll see different views of the 8-mile-long Nuptse and Lhotse. Descend past a frozen lake in the Imja Khola Valley, then make the final descent to Chukkung, a former yak herder's camp.

    Trek for 3-4 hours covering 5 km to Island Peak Base Camp following an upward trail below the southern edge of the Lhotse glacier. This difficult ascent winds past a creek into a beautiful glacier valley. After lunch, start pre-climb training with your guide covering climbing methods and techniques. Rest early for tomorrow's big climb.

    Island Peak Summit Climb

    You'll wake around midnight and depart by 1 a.m. to avoid high winds. The climb takes 12-13 hours total from High Camp to reach Crampon Point in about 3 hours, then you'll put on crampons and use rope lines. Follow a steep 45-50 degree ridge on the Imja glacier with views of Ama Dablam and Makalu. Cross potential crevasses with ladders up to 8m, then summit the 6,189m peak surrounded by glaciers. Descend and return to Chukkung by evening.

    Flexible Day (Weather/Emergency Reserve)

    If yesterday's summit attempt was canceled due to severe weather or illness, this day is reserved for a second attempt. This can also cover emergencies like airline delays. If everything went to plan, use this day to rest and explore more of the trail, or optionally return to Kathmandu for extra time there.

  16. Day 16

    Dingboche to Namche Bazaar

    After early breakfast, trek for 7-8 hours covering 23 km back to Namche Bazaar, passing through Dingboche, Shomare, Tengboche, and Sansa. This is a long and difficult trek with great Himalayan views throughout. Once you reach Namche, relax and enjoy authentic Nepali or Western cuisine.
