Itinerary
- Day 1
Cotopaxi National Park
Start your morning at the Cotopaxi National Park parking lot, sitting at 4,500 meters elevation. The drive gets you there early so you'll have time to prepare for hiking up to Jose Ribas refuge at 4,800m, and on clear days you might spot up to 8 volcanoes from up there. From the refuge, continue hiking to reach the glacier at 5,000 meters before heading back for lunch at the shelter. After eating, you'll get a briefing on what's coming next, then switch gears to biking downhill toward Limpiopungo Lake where wild horses sometimes roam around. The biking route continues to the Interpretation Center, where exhibits explain the volcanic activity in the region and what shaped this landscape.

- Day 2
Quilotoa Lagoon - Baños
Grab breakfast early, then head to one of three traditional indigenous markets in Saquisili, Pujili, or Zumbahua, depending on which day the market operates. You'll walk through the stalls and try some exotic fruits while getting a real sense of local life and culture. Later, travel to Quilotoa Lagoon for a hike with changing light creating different colors across the water throughout the day. After lunch, spend some time in the Tigua community before the drive to Banos, which sits as Ecuador's hub for outdoor activities and adventure sports.

- Day 3
Baños
After breakfast, head to Casahurco for a canyoning adventure led by professional, certified guides who handle all the technical aspects. The morning involves navigating one of Ecuador's most exciting canyoning sites with all equipment provided for you. This is an intense, wet experience working through a top-tier canyoning location. By afternoon back in Banos, time is yours to use however you like. Head to Casa del Arbol to swing out over the clouds, wander through town, grab coffee, or pick up souvenirs from local shops.

Kayaking on Anzu River
Eat breakfast, then begin a 2.5-hour drive to Tena. Check into your hotel and rest before the afternoon's kayaking starts. You'll get fitted with all necessary gear including kayak, paddle, buoyancy vest, and helmet. About 30 minutes from there, you'll reach the Anzu River put-in spot. Your guide covers safety basics, and then you're on the water for a relaxed paddle where you'll learn kayak control. You'll run smaller rapids, drift with the current, and just get comfortable on the river. The day ends with cold drinks by the riverside before heading back to Tena for the night.

Landmarks Anzu River - Day 5
Tena
Finish breakfast, then drive roughly 45 minutes into the jungle to a put-in site near Cando village on the Upper Rio Napo, called Rio Jatunyacu or 'big water' in Quichua. This river delivers significant rapids and excitement for both beginner and experienced rafters. The first rapids hit hard, soaking everyone immediately, then you'll crash through more whitewater, explore a hidden canyon, drift along towering river cliffs, and have a swim if you want. Midday means pulling onto a riverside beach for lunch with tropical fruits, soft drinks, juice, and water. From there, return to Tena for the night after your rafting adventure.

Papallacta - Quito
After breakfast, drive north toward Mondayacu community and prepare for a short hike and rafting combination. Everyone receives life jacket, helmet, and paddle. Local community members help carry the rafts and lunch coolers for the group. The hike takes about 20 minutes up and down to reach a suspension bridge crossing the Jondachi River, giving you the perfect spot to scout the upcoming rapids. Then you'll experience thrilling rapids cutting through untouched jungle on both sides, suitable for beginners and experienced paddlers. Stop at a riverside beach for picnic lunch with a celebratory cold beer or soft drink after. Your driver takes you back to Quito with a stop at Papallacta thermal springs to relax post-adventure, arriving around 8 PM depending on traffic and weather conditions.
