Itinerary
- Day 1
Marrakech to Ait Benhaddou
You'll head across the High Atlas Mountains through Tizi-n-Tichka Pass, where the mountain scenery really opens up as you climb higher. Stop at the Glaoui Kasbah in Telouet to see the fortress architecture and get a feel for the region's history. Then it's on to Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that used to be a major stop for Saharan trade routes and has served as a filming location for several Hollywood productions. The drive takes you through changing landscapes, and you'll understand why this route has been important for centuries.

- Day 2
Ait Benhaddou to Tinghir
After breakfast, you'll explore the Valley of the Roses and the Valley of 1000 Kasbahs, driving through some remarkable terrain. Dades Gorge comes up next with its sharp rock formations and the remains of old kasbahs scattered throughout the area. You'll stop for lunch somewhere along the route, then head to Todra Gorge where you get out and walk through this narrow river valley with high cliffs on both sides. The gorge walls create quite an impression when you're down in it, and the whole valley feels very different from the surrounding plateau.

- Day 3
Tinghir to Merzouga
Start after breakfast with a guided walk around Tinghir's palmerie oasis and kasbah to get oriented. From there, head toward Merzouga Dunes in the Sahara, passing through Rissani Oasis and crossing sandy tracks to reach Erg Chebbi. By afternoon you'll be on a camel, heading into the desert itself to catch the sunset from out on the dunes. The evening brings you to a desert camp where you'll stay under the stars and experience traditional Saharan hospitality.

- Day 4
Merzouga to Agdz
You'll get up early to climb to the top of the dunes and watch the sunrise over the Sahara, which is worth the early start. After breakfast back at camp, you begin the journey out of the desert toward Agdz, driving via Alnif and Tazarine across a stony plain that stretches out in all directions. Agdz is a mountain town nestled along the Draa River in the High Atlas with nice views of Jebel Kissane mountains rising nearby.

Agdz to Marrakech
Your route to Marrakech takes you back across Tizi n Tichka mountain pass, and the drive gives you those dramatic High Atlas views again as the road winds through the peaks. From the pass you'll see down into the valleys below, and the road work itself is interesting as it curves around the mountain. By the time you reach Marrakech, the red city, you've completed the full journey from the Sahara back to one of Morocco's major centers.
