Visegrad
Your Serbian adventure kicks off at the Visegrad Bridge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with incredible views of the Drina River gorge. You'll walk around the Visegrad Kamengrad fortress area to get a sense of the region's history. After spending the morning here, head to Zlatibor for the night. It's a scenic drive through the countryside, around 2-3 hours depending on traffic and stops.

Zlatibor
Spend your day in the Zlatibor region checking out several different attractions. Start with Stopica Cave in the morning, then move on to Sirogojno ethno village to see traditional architecture and learn about local customs. Later you'll see Gostilje waterfall, which is worth the short walk. If you're up for it, try the ZipLine Ljubis activity in the afternoon for some adrenaline. Head back to your accommodation by evening.

Zlatibor to Pozarevac
Travel to Topola and begin with the Holy Martyr George Church, known for its beautiful interior and historical importance. Continue to King Winery to tour the wine production area and sample some local wines, maybe grab lunch there too. From Topola, it's about 45 minutes to Pozarevac where you'll stay the night. You'll pass through wine country and agricultural areas during the drive.

Pozarevac
This day focuses on the Danube region's impressive fortresses and monasteries. Start at Golubac Fortress, which sits right on the river with dramatic views and interesting medieval history. Then head to Tumane Monastery for a quieter, more spiritual atmosphere. Finish at Ram Fortress, another well-preserved medieval structure. These three sites give you a good overview of the region's military and religious past.

Pozarevac to Belgrade
Begin at Viminacium archaeological park to walk through extensive Roman ruins and see artifacts from when this was a major military and civilian settlement. The site covers a lot of ground, so plan a couple hours here. After that, head to Smederevo Fortress, which is one of the largest in Serbia. From there, it's a short drive to Belgrade where you'll settle in for the night and prepare for exploring the capital.

Belgrade
Spend the day getting to know Belgrade's center. Start by walking through the historical neighborhoods and main squares where you'll see a mix of old and modern architecture. Visit Saint Sava Monastery, a striking white building and important spiritual center. Then check out Belgrade Fortress, which overlooks the confluence of the Danube and Sava rivers. The views from here are great for understanding the city's layout and history.

Belgrade to Novi Sad
Head north to Novi Sad, about 90 minutes from Belgrade. Once there, wander through the historical center and see the mix of different architectural styles. Visit both the Orthodox and Catholic churches to understand the region's religious diversity. End with Petrovaradin Fortress, which rises above the city and offers good views of the Danube. You can spend the night in Novi Sad or head somewhere nearby.

Novi Sad to Sremska Mitrovica
Start in Sremski Karlovci, a charming town with well-kept historical buildings and a nice riverside setting. Spend a couple hours wandering the streets and maybe grab coffee at a local café. Then travel to Krusedol Monastery to see its spiritual and artistic importance. This is a quieter, more reflective part of the trip. Head to Sremska Mitrovica for your overnight stay, which is nearby.

Sremska Mitrovica to Belgrade
Visit Sirmium archaeological site, one of Serbia's most significant Roman heritage locations. You'll see remains from when this was a major Roman city with temples, residences, and public buildings. The museum on site helps explain what you're looking at. After exploring the ruins, head back to Belgrade. It's a couple hours' drive, so you'll arrive by evening. This concludes your Serbian journey through history, culture, and natural landscapes.
