- Day 1
Zenica
Start your journey into Bosnia's medieval past at Kraljeva Sutjeska, where you'll find a 14th-century Franciscan monastery with its own museum and historical library. From there, head to Bobovac, the former royal seat where Bosnian kings once ruled and kept their crown jewels. The drive takes you through the Bosna River valley toward Zenica, where you'll check into your accommodation for the night.

Doboj
Travel north to Vranduk, a settlement that dates back to the 14th century and still preserves much of its medieval character around an old citadel. Continue on to Doboj, an ancient city positioned along the Bosna River in Republika Srpska. You'll settle in for two nights, and the evenings are yours to wander the local restaurants, taverns, and shops at your own pace.

Maglaj - Doboj
Begin with Doboj Fortress, a recently renovated medieval castle from the early 13th century that now contains restaurants, shops, and exhibitions showcasing medieval history. Later in the day, take a trip to Maglaj to see the old Ottoman town with its traditional houses, mosques, and fortress overlooking the Bosna River. You'll return to Doboj by evening with time to explore on your own.

Jajce
Visit Tesanj, where the well-preserved Gradina fortress dominates the landscape from above the town. After that, continue to Jajce, a UNESCO Tentative List city known for its 22-meter Pliva waterfall where two rivers converge. You'll stay for two nights and have the chance to explore this charming town independently.

Jajce
Spend your day discovering Jajce's historical sites. Walk out to the viewing platform at Pliva Falls to experience the mist from the turquoise water. Climb up to Jajce Fortress on the hilltop for mountain views, then wander through the old town where medieval buildings sit alongside Ottoman architecture. You can also see St. Mary's Church from the 12th century and visit the ancient Mithraic Temple.

Mostar
Head to the 15th-century Franciscan Monastery of Rama-Šćit, which sits in the middle of scenic Ramsko Lake, and take time to see the art sculptures in its courtyard. Check out the Ethnographic Museum located in the old monastery building. From there, drive to Mostar, one of Bosnia's most visited cities, famous for its UNESCO World Heritage Stari Most bridge and the Ottoman Old Bazaar. You'll settle in for three nights here.

Kravica - Pocitelj - Mostar
Take a day trip to Medjugorje, South-Eastern Europe's premier Catholic pilgrimage site where the Virgin Mary reportedly appeared in 1981. Then travel to see Kravica waterfall, which drops 25 meters and offers a place for swimming. Continue to Pocitelj, a medieval town on the UNESCO Tentative List, where you can walk through cobblestone streets and see the 14th-century fortress and 16th-century Hajji Alija's Mosque. Return to Mostar in the evening.

Mostar
After breakfast, make your way to Blagaj, a UNESCO Tentative List site home to the 16th-century Dervish tekija monastery built at the base of a cliff where the Buna River's karstic spring emerges. Grab lunch at the monastery's restaurant with views across the water. Then explore Blagaj Fort, which once belonged to King Herceg-Stjepan and features impressive stone walls and medieval turrets. Head back to Mostar for the evening.

Stolac - Vjetrenica Cave - Zavala - Trebinje
Visit Radimlja, a monumental necropolis of medieval tombstones near Stolac that represents some of the country's most valuable medieval monuments. Explore Stolac itself, one of Herzegovina's oldest towns with its Ottoman center and Roman castle. Tour Vjetrenica Cave, Bosnia's largest cave system and home to unique subterranean biodiversity. See Zavala monastery, where Saint Basil of Ostrog once entered monasticism. Travel south to Trebinje, Bosnia's southernmost city just 28 km from Dubrovnik, and settle in for two nights.

Trebinje
After breakfast, visit Tvrdos, a 15th-century Serbian Orthodox monastery known for its award-winning wines and long winemaking tradition. Tour the wine cellars, including a 15th-century cellar with century-old monastic oak barrels inside. You can see the foundations of a 4th-century Roman Basilica on the grounds. Return to Trebinje to see the Ottoman Arslanagić Bridge from 1574, the Hercegovačka Gračanica monastery on Crkvina Hill with its panoramic views, and the well-preserved 18th-century Old Town walls.

Learn about how the monastery was relocated to Bileća Lake to protect it from flooding. After sightseeing, head toward Sarajevo for your hotel drop-off, timing your departure based on your travel schedule.
