Itinerary
- Day 1
Machame Gate to Mweka Gate to Moshi
Head out early from Machame Gate around 7:00 AM for the drive to Mweka Gate, which takes about 3 hours. You'll handle park formalities when you arrive, then start hiking through the rainforest toward Mweka Village. The trail takes roughly 3 hours and you'll see colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and lots of birds along the way. After a traditional Tanzanian lunch in the village, the hike back to Mweka Gate runs about 2 hours. From there it's a vehicle ride back to Moshi, getting you there between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM.
