Itinerary

La Palma
You'll touch down in La Palma and get picked up by an ASI representative at the airport. If needed, head over to the coach parking lot to locate ASI Reisen for your transfer to the hotel. Your hiking guide meets you at reception around 19:00, and then you'll have dinner together to kick things off.

La Palma
Drive south to check out ancient history and volcanic landscapes. First stop is Belmaco cave, an open-air museum used by indigenous people centuries ago. Then you'll pass Volcan de San Antonio on the way to Teneguía. Hike to the southernmost point where a century-old lighthouse sits watch. By midday you'll have lunch by the sea, followed by time to swim at the beach.

La Palma
Explore the rural north of La Palma with its quiet landscapes, small gorges, and ancient dragon trees scattered around. You'll drive to a charming rural restaurant where regional specialties and local cooking wait for you.

- Day 4
La Palma
The west side of La Palma gets two hikes today. First, you'll go into Caldera de Taburiente National Park with crater views. Then it's off to Tazacorte for a descent along an old royal path to the coast, where you see the 2021 volcanic eruption landscape. You'll swim and grab fresh fish by the sea after. On the way back, stop at Tajogaite, Spain's newest volcano, and walk through the dramatic 2021 lava fields.

La Palma
Drive up to the roof of the island at over 2,400 meters altitude to visit the modern observatory with 14 domes, the most significant of its kind in the northern hemisphere. From there, hike along a high trail with views of the caldera and the whole island below. The unique rock formations along the way have nice colorful displays throughout.

La Palma
Get to the greenest part of La Palma, often called the island's lungs. Hike into the cool laurel forest at Cubo de la Galga, a UNESCO biosphere reserve with unique plants from the Tertiary period. You'll ascend through the cloud forest to Mirador Somada Alta, then head to the village of San Andrés and walk along the coast to Charco Azul, the natural swimming pools.

La Palma
Head to Santa Cruz, the historic capital, and walk through this gem of Canarian Renaissance architecture from the 16th century when it was Europe's third busiest port. You'll check out the main church, old monasteries, the market hall, town hall, plazas, and narrow alleyways with ornate balconies. After that, climb steeply past old water mills to reach Virgen de las Nieves, a pilgrimage site where lunch happens. The bus brings you back down.
