We booked a self-guided tour in Tenerife, splitting our stay between the north for 3 nights and the south for 4 nights. In the north, we enjoyed a scenic hike and visited Loro Parque, ending one evening with a private dinner at Bernoulli's Steak House. Our 4* hotel had a beautiful beach view. The experience at H10 Atlantic Hotel in South Tenerife was fantastic, especially the quad ride and sunset at Mt. Teide. We also explored a mall and relaxed at the beaches. Driving around Tenerife was easy, making it a great destination for tourists who prefer to self-drive. Overall, our Tenerife trip was memorable and fun.

If you're into dramatic scenery and art Lanzarote's fantastic - there's this great self-guided cycling tour called "Lanzarote Land of Volcanoes" that takes you through Timanfaya National Park and those unique vineyards in La Geria. For just one island you'll want at least 5 days to see the highlights properly.
