Itinerary
- Day 1
Marrakech to Dades Valley
Your hotel in Marrakech picks you up early morning and you'll head south toward the Atlas Mountains. The drive takes you through several photo stops where the landscape really opens up, and you'll pass through Berber villages to get a feel for how people actually live in the region. By midday you'll reach Ait Ben Haddou, a 16th-century Kasbah that's been featured in countless films and is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After exploring there, you continue to Ouarzazate to see the film studios and Kasbah Taourirt before heading toward Dades Valley. You'll travel through Skoura's palm groves later in the afternoon, and by evening you'll be settled at your hotel in Dades Valley for dinner and the night.

- Day 2
Dades Valley to Merzouga (Erg Chebbi Desert)
After breakfast you'll drive north toward Tinghir, and this is when you get to walk right into Todra Gorge itself, which is pretty striking with its high canyon walls. The route then takes you through Tinjdad and Touroug where you'll stop for lunch, then you head through Erfoud to reach Merzouga on the edge of the Erg Chebbi desert. Once you arrive, you'll have mint tea and then head out on a camel for about an hour to watch the sunset across the sand dunes. Dinner comes after that back at camp, followed by a traditional Berber music show under the stars. You'll sleep in a nomadic Berber tent for the night.

- Day 3
Merzouga (Erg Chebbi Desert)
You're up early to catch the sunrise from the top of a nearby dune, then back to camp for breakfast and a shower. From there you'll either ride back by camel or take a 4WD vehicle to explore the wider Erg Chebbi area. During this excursion you'll visit Berber nomad families to see their daily life, check out the M'ifis fossils mines, stop in Khamlia village to hear traditional Gnawa music, and see other seasonal sites and oases around the region. The afternoon brings panoramic views and lunch before you head back to your hotel in Merzouga to stay another night.

- Day 4
Merzouga to Fes
Breakfast in Merzouga comes first, then you'll drive northwest toward Fes through Ziz Valley, which has some nice views. You'll stop at Aoufous village on the way. The route takes you through the Middle Atlas mountains after that, and by lunchtime you'll be in the town of Medilt for a meal break. In the afternoon you head to the cedar forest where you can actually see monkeys in their natural setting, which is a nice contrast to everything else you've seen. From there it's on to Fes via Ifrane, and you'll reach your hotel or riad by late afternoon for the night.
