Tokyo
Start exploring Tokyo with Meiji Shrine, which sits in a peaceful man-made forest. Then head to Asakusa to check out the old city side and walk through Nakamisi Street where you'll find craft shops. By afternoon, head up to Tokyo Tower's Observation Deck for wide views across the city.

You have the day to yourself to explore Tokyo at your own pace. If you'd rather have some structure, there's an optional guided tour to Nikko, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where you can learn more about the region.

- Day 4
Tokyo - Mt. Fuji - Nagano
After breakfast, you'll drive to Mt. Fuji's 5th Station at 2,300 meters elevation for commanding views of the Fuji Five Lakes and time to check out shrines and souvenir shops. From there, head to Lake Kawaguchiko in Hakone National Park for a scenic boat cruise with Mt. Fuji and Mt. Komagatake in view. You'll arrive in the Nagano region in the afternoon.

You'll see the Japanese countryside and how people live there. Walk around Shirakawa-Go, a UNESCO World Heritage site with traditional gassho-zukuri farmhouses that are over 250 years old. Later, you'll stroll along Sannomachi Street in Takayama Old Town, which has historic homes, shops, and restaurants.

- Day 6
Kanazawa - Kyoto
Visit Kenrokuen, one of Japan's most beautiful landscape gardens that opened to the public in 1871, with seasonal flowering trees throughout. You'll take part in a Gold Leaf Craft workshop to learn about Kanazawa's famous gold leaf process and decorate your own items. After that, you'll drive to Kyoto and have time to explore on your own for the rest of the day.

Kyoto
Take a comprehensive Kyoto sightseeing tour starting at Kiyomizu-dera, one of Japan's most celebrated temples from 780 and a UNESCO World Heritage site, known for its wooden stage 13 meters above the hillside. Walk through Ninenzaka, a historic old street with traditional Japanese-style buildings. The afternoon is yours to spend at leisure or you can join an optional Maiko Dinner Show.

- Day 8
Kyoto - Himeji - Okayama/Hiroshima
After breakfast, visit Nijo Castle, one of Japan's most complete castle complexes and a UNESCO World Heritage property. Then drive to Himeji to see Himeji Castle, also called White Heron Castle, which is considered Japan's most impressive castle for its size, elegant white appearance, and well-preserved grounds. It's both a national treasure and UNESCO World Heritage site. You'll finish the day in the Okayama or Hiroshima area.

- Day 9
Hiroshima - Miyajima Island
Head to Hiroshima and board a boat to Miyajima Island, known as the Divine Island and one of Japan's most beautiful landscapes and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Spend 45 minutes on the island with your guide, visiting the shimmering Itsukushima Shrine. Grab lunch at a local restaurant (not included). Then return by boat to Hiroshima to visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, see exhibitions about the destruction and recovery, and visit the Atomic Bomb Dome, the skeletal structure that survived the 1945 attack.

You have the day free to rest or explore however you'd like. If you prefer something organized, there's an optional tour to Naoshima Art Island in the Seto Inland Sea, known for its contemporary art museums, architecture, and sculptures.

Kagawa - Osaka
You'll go to Takamatsu Udon School and make Sanuki udon noodles by hand in a workshop. Next, visit Ritsurin Garden, the largest Cultural Property Garden in Japan and an important cultural asset kept up for nearly 400 years. You'll explore the spacious park with its ponds, hills, historic trees, and pavilions split into Japanese-style and Western-style sections, with Mt. Shiun in the background. Later, drive to Osaka and check in to your hotel.

Osaka - Nara - Osaka
Start at Nara Park, home to hundreds of free-roaming deer you can feed with deer senbei crackers (200 JPY per pack, available at stalls). In the afternoon, tour Kuromon Ichiba, one of Osaka's main food markets with vendors selling street food, fresh produce, shellfish, and trinkets. After lunch, explore the Minami district with its boutiques, designer outlets, restaurants, and bars. Later, walk through Dotonbori, one of Osaka's most popular destinations along the canal, filled with shops, street food, bars, and neon lights including the famous Glico Man and Kani Doraku crab signs.

There's also an optional tour to Ine, called 'Kyoto by the Sea', with visits to a UNESCO-listed beautiful bay, historic funaya boat houses from the Edo period, Amanohashidate land bridge, and Chionji Temple.

Osaka - Departure
This is your last day. Check out and head to the airport, with standard checkout between 10am and 12pm. You can leave your luggage at hotel reception and spend time exploring, or ask the hotel staff about extended checkout if available (there may be an extra charge). Travel to Osaka International Airport or Kansai International Airport by shuttle bus, train, or taxi.
