- Day 1
Bucharest
Start your day at the Palace of Parliament, one of the world's largest administrative buildings, on a private guided tour. From there, you'll walk through the historic city center, stopping at Revolution Square and the Romanian Athenaeum. Later, head down Victory Avenue and check out some of the historic churches and museums scattered throughout. By afternoon, you'll see the Arch of Triumph, and the tour wraps up at Hanul lui Manuc, an old fortified inn that's been around for centuries.

Bucharest to Sibiu
Leave Bucharest early and drive through dramatic mountain scenery toward Curtea de Arges, an ancient town with royal tombs and a 13th-century Royal Church you can explore. Next, you'll head up to Poenari Fortress, which has historical ties to Dracula folklore. The main event comes later when you drive along the Transfagarasan Highway, one of Romania's most scenic routes, eventually reaching Sibiu. This medieval city was named European Capital of Culture and has plenty to see once you arrive.

Sibiu to Sighisoara
Today covers two UNESCO World Heritage sites in Transylvania. Start with the Biertan Fortified Church, a Saxon settlement from 1224 that's surrounded by three defensive walls and has significant historical value. After exploring there, you'll head to Sighisoara, a preserved medieval town and birthplace of Vlad the Impaler. Once you arrive, spend time walking through the 12th-century citadel with its cobblestone streets and impressive stone walls.

Sighisoara to Brasov
Travel to Brasov, a medieval city positioned in the Carpathian Mountains foothills. A guided walking tour takes you through the Old Town to see the Black Church, the old town square, and medieval city walls. You'll have free time to relax at cafes before heading to nearby Bran Castle, which has connections to Dracula folklore. Dinner features traditional Transylvanian food, including handmade cheeses, palinka brandy, and local ham and sausages.

Brasov to Bucharest
Visit Peles Castle first, the former summer residence of the Romanian royal family built between 1873 and 1914. It's one of Europe's most significant castles architecturally. After spending time there, head to Sinaia Monastery, a 300-year-old fortified monastery set in the Carpathian Mountains. If interested, you can learn about Snagov Monastery and its legendary connection to Vlad Tepes before the drive back to Bucharest.
