- Day 1
Bucharest
Your guide and driver meet you at Bucharest Airport and drive you to your centrally located hotel. During the ride, you'll see the House of the Free Press, Arch of Triumph, Victory Avenue, Revolution Square, and the Palace of the Parliament. After checking in, you have free time to settle in before heading to dinner at a historic restaurant in the Old Town.

Bucharest to Sibiu
Starting after breakfast, you travel to Horezu Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with Brâncovenesc architecture and intricate sculpted details. You'll have free time for lunch, then continue to Sibiu, the 2007 European Cultural Capital. The walking tour covers the Large Square and Small Square, the Catholic Church, Council Tower, Bruckenthal Palace, Liar's Bridge, and the Lutheran Church.

Sibiu to Cluj Napoca
After breakfast you head to Sarmisegetuza Regia, a UNESCO archaeological site featuring one of six ancient fortresses from Decebalus's defensive system. Following lunch, you visit Turda to explore one of the world's oldest salt mines, now an underground theme park with a Ferris wheel, mini golf, bowling, underground boating, and a sports arena. Late in the day you arrive in Cluj Napoca for check-in.

Cluj Napoca to Viseul de Sus
After breakfast you take a guided stroll through Unification Square to see the Catholic Church St. Michael and the equestrian statue of King Matthias Corvinus. Then you head to the Maramures region to see UNESCO-listed wooden churches with their characteristic tall bell towers. You visit the Desesti wooden church, the Merry Cemetery of Sapanta with its colorfully painted tombstones, and the Ieud wooden church before arriving in Viseul de Sus.

Viseul de Sus to Gura Humorului
This morning brings an adventurous ride on the narrow-gauge steam train in the Vaser Valley. The CFF Viseu forestry railway is Europe's last remaining forestry railway, built to the 760mm gauge from the Austro-Hungarian Empire. You travel roughly 40 km round trip through curves, bridges, tunnels, and along the river through wild forest where bears and wolves roam. A barbecue lunch happens at your stop, then you continue to Gura Humorului for check-in.

Gura Humorului to Piatra Neamt
You explore the Bucovina region, known for its monasteries painted inside and out, many UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Moldovita Monastery from the 16th century shows impressive frescoes, icons, and church chairs. Next comes the Voronet Monastery, called the 'Sistine Chapel of the East' for its magnificent 'The Last Judgement' fresco. Built in less than 4 months in the late 15th century, it's an architectural marvel. You also visit the Humor Monastery before heading to Piatra Neamt for check-in.

Piatra Neamt to Sighisoara
After breakfast you travel towards Transylvania, passing through the beautiful Bicaz Gorges. Your destination is Sighisoara, a medieval citadel founded by Transylvanian Saxons in the 12th century and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The walking tour begins at the Clock Tower and continues to Count Dracula's birthplace and the Church on the Hill. Later you may enjoy dinner at the House of Dracula Restaurant.

Sighisoara to Brasov
You travel south through the Transylvanian countryside to visit two villages with UNESCO World Heritage fortified churches, part of a unique settlement pattern from the late Middle Ages. Saschiz and Viscri appear on your itinerary, with Viscri known for its traditional households owned by Prince Charles. By afternoon you arrive in Brasov for check-in.

Brasov
After breakfast you visit the UNESCO fortified church Prejmer, then return to Brasov for a walking tour starting at Council Square. The Black Church is the main highlight, Romania's leading gothic church and the largest between Vienna and Istanbul. You also see Rope Street, Europe's narrowest street. After lunch in the Old Town, you head to Bran to explore Dracula Castle, built by German Saxons in the 14th century. Now famous as Bram Stoker's inspiration, it's Transylvania's most visited site. Evening dinner may happen at the Bran Castle Tea House, built by Queen Maria in 1920.

Brasov to Tulcea
You travel to the mountain resort of Sinaia to visit Peles Castle, a masterpiece of German new-Renaissance architecture commissioned by King Carol I in 1873. The castle served as the royal family's summer residence until 1947. After free time for lunch, you continue by coach towards Tulcea for check-in.

Tulcea
An excursion ship takes you to explore the Danube Delta, Europe's best-preserved natural habitat and a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1990. It's one of Europe's wildest areas and sanctuary for over 300 bird species, including major migration routes from Mongolia, Siberia, India, Africa, and China. You observe cormorants, egrets, swans, and pelicans while learning about the delta's formation. Lunch happens at a local restaurant, then you transfer back to Bucharest for dinner at your hotel.
