Scottsdale
You'll arrive in Arizona and head to Scottsdale on your own schedule. Old Scottsdale's downtown has retro wooden buildings and rodeo-inspired artwork that capture the Southwestern feel, plus plenty of local shops to browse. Later this evening, you'll join other travelers for dinner and wine at Zuzu Restaurant back at your resort.

- Day 2
Scottsdale to Grand Canyon
After heading through Red Rock Scenic Byway with its dramatic desert views, you'll reach Sedona and spend time checking out the unique shops and galleries. Then you'll drive through Oak Creek Canyon Scenic Byway and head into Coconino National Forest. Once you arrive at Grand Canyon's South Rim, your Local Expert Tim will meet you and explain the canyon's five-million-year-old history, rock formations, and the wildlife and plants you'll see there.

- Day 3
Grand Canyon to Lake Powell
Early risers can catch the sunrise over the Grand Canyon. You'll travel the South Rim Desert View Drive and stop at Desert View Point to see Mary Colter's historic Watchtower and views of the Colorado River and Painted Desert. Then you'll visit Cameron Trading Post, one of Arizona's oldest general stores. After that, you'll head into Monument Valley Tribal Park for an off-terrain vehicle tour with Navajo guides who'll share their history and culture. A traditional Navajo cookout lunch happens right there among the buttes and mesas before heading to your resort at Lake Powell.

Lake Powell
The whole day is yours to do what you want. You can relax by the resort pool and enjoy the Lake Powell views, or pick from optional experiences if something interests you. By evening, you'll head to Red Heritage, a Native American Performing Arts Theatre, where you'll see powwow dancers, flute players, and live drum music while having dinner and drinks.

Lake Powell to Bryce Canyon
You'll travel through landscape with colorful sandstone cliffs, sagebrush flats, and pine and juniper ridges. Highway 89 takes you through Bryce Canyon Country with views National Geographic called the No. 1 Driver's Drive in the world. At Bryce Canyon National Park, you'll see the red rock pillars called hoodoos, pink cliffs, and wide vistas. The Rim Trail from Sunrise Point to Bryce Point has stops at major viewpoints where you can take leisurely walks or tackle more physical hikes.

You can join a guided hike to the Emerald Pools or take a leisurely self-guided walk along the Virgin River Walk and keep an eye out for wildlife.

Salt Lake City to Jackson
Start with the State Capitol building in Salt Lake City. Then you'll drive through scenic Logan Canyon over the Wasatch Mountain Range to Bear Lake Summit. Near Bear Lake, you'll stop for lunch on your own and see the turquoise waters. From there, you'll continue north across the Oregon Trail to historic Jackson, check out the famous elk antler arch in the central square, and browse the charming traditional boutique galleries. The rest of your evening is free to wander around Jackson Town Square.

Jackson to Yellowstone National Park
You'll wake to mountainous views and see the Grand Tetons rising up from the valley floor. There's an optional scenic float down the Snake River inside Grand Teton National Park if you want to do it (waiver required). Then you'll enter Yellowstone, the world's first National Park, where you'll see geothermal activity, dramatic landscapes, and look for black bears or wolves. You'll stay in the National Park Lodges so you can experience the park after the crowds leave and see it in its natural state.

You'll explore Yellowstone's otherworldly scenery at a relaxed pace. Walk through the rainbow-tinted hot springs and watch geysers erupt with your Travel Director. You'll see Old Faithful shoot water over 120 feet up and check out the colorful bubbling mud pots. In the afternoon, you'll take in the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. Driving through Hayden Valley gives you chances to spot wolves, bears, elk, and bison. The rest of the evening is yours to relax.

Yellowstone to UCross Ranch
You'll travel through Shoshone Canyon and the Absaroka Rocky Mountains to reach Cody, a Wild West town. At the award-winning Buffalo Bill Centre of the West, you'll see Western art, firearms, and natural history exhibits. After that, you'll go through Bighorn National Forest to the Ranch at UCross, a traditional Wyoming family ranch. The evening starts with cocktails in the historic Ranch House bar, followed by home-cooked dinner and a fire pit with live country, folk, and bluegrass music.

UCross Ranch to Spearfish Canyon
Your day begins with a scenic horseback ride with a Ranch Hand (waiver required), or you can go fishing or just relax in the beautiful surroundings. Later, you'll head to Devils Tower, a geological feature rising from the Black Hills that's sacred to the Lakota and other tribes. You'll also experience Spearfish Canyon, a favorite for wildlife lovers with its woodland scenery. The limestone palisades carved by the creek there are actually older than the Grand Canyon.

You'll cross the great high plains toward the Black Hills of South Dakota, and you might spot pronghorn antelope, the fastest mammal in North America. In the morning, you'll visit the Oglala Lakota Living History Museum to learn about Lakota culture through historic displays, trails, crafts, and storytelling. Then you'll continue to Badlands National Park, which covers 244,000 acres of sharply eroded buttes, pinnacles, and spires mixed with the largest protected mixed grass prairie in America, a hidden gem with landscape unlike anywhere else.

You'll start the day viewing the granite faces at Mount Rushmore National Memorial. This is the world's largest mountain carving, honoring the Lakota warrior. Tonight, you'll celebrate your travels over dinner with your Travel Director and the friends you've made along the way at your lodge in Custer State Park.
