- MMMark· July 30th, 2024The Tour Company was unable to cope with an emergency situation and left us stranded in Calgary to make our own way to Vancouver! The Canadian Government had instructed us to evacuate Jasper in 5 hours, yet both the tour guide and the driver didn't show up until 3 hours later. Once they did arrive, they were determined to stay in Jasper because they thought that it might rain in an hour to put our the fire. They told us that we could wait at Jasper Train station as there is nothing to burn there, and if it got too hot that we could go into the creek! I got in touch with Calgary Tours and advised them of the situation we were facing and thankfully they instructed the driver to leave Jasper. However, the driver did not want to go to BC (where it was safe) because he need to find a replacement driver (as he had been driving too long). Therefore he decided to go against government advise and drive towards the wildfires! The police stopped him from doing so, advising his that only a handful of cars were being escorted by the police, but that our coach could not travel on that road as it was too big, and it would be unable to make a u-turn or 3 point turn. The driver incredibly ignored what the police said and travelled towards the wildfires! A second police car stopped us, but at this point it was too late, we could not turn back as we were unable to turn, and we ended up having to travel through the wildfires at 1am! The next day we learned on the news that the wildfires had travelled 5km in just 30 minutes, and that the fires were 100m tall and the firefighters could do nothing to stop them - as even the water planes could not travel safely above them. It is only sheer luck that 60 people did not burn on the coach that evening!Show moreCalgary Tours commented on this reviewWe are sorry to hear that you had such an experience. - APAnn· June 6th, 2024In general the tour was very good. We saw many wonderful places and things worked efficiently. We did find it difficult to meet the guide when the train arrived in Jasper. If the guide could wait at the main station entrance this would be much easier. There was a full schedule of sites to see and this was generally quite fine and to be expected. On the last day however, with the final journey to Calgary, it might be better to take out Johnson Canyon? This would make the day less exhausting and an earlier finish in Calgary while still having the wonderful gondola ride in Banff,Bow Falls and Surprise Corner which would be a wonderful day in itself. After the Columbia IceFields, Moraine Lake and so many other amazing sights in the previous days, I did feel Johnson Canyon was not interesting in comparison, and something that could well be left out, to avoid such a long day at the end of the trip. My other big problem was that the train tickets and vouchers did not arrive until a few days before the train departed. This was terribly stressful and should not have happened. I had to chase it up at a time when I was leaving Australia to fly to Canada. I can not understand why these documents were not issued immediately on receipt of the final payment weeks before and it was a major issue.Show moreTrip date: May 2024

Asked on May 7th, 2025I'm interested in your 5 day Vancouver to Rockies package and wanted to know how much it would be to upgrade to a sleeper on the VIA rail. I'll be travelling with my husband and three children (10, 8 and 6yo).
- Calgary ToursOperator•Written May 2025
Currently, there are five available sleeper berths; however, they are spread out across multiple train cars. We have contacted the railway company, and while it is possible to allocate berths in just two cars, those cars are located far apart and are not internally connected. Please note that availability is subject to change at any time. For a more comfortable and cohesive travel experience, we recommend booking economy seats instead.

Asked on April 27th, 2025Could you please confirm the price for upgrading to sleeper class? Could you also confirm the arrival time back in Calgary on the last day, so the passenger can book their flights accordingly?

Unfortunately, the sleeper berth for June 20th has been sold out. The nearest available date, with an additional fee of CAD $780 per person, is offered. Please note that the price is subject to change. After the tour, we will return to Calgary around 18:30 to 19:30, depending on traffic and weather conditions. Therefore, we recommend that guests book their return flight for after 21:30 or consider booking a post-tour stay with us.
